Project Controls Specialist
Job Title: Project Controls Specialist Type: Contract Compensation: $72 - $90 hourly Contractor Work Model: Remote Duration: 1-Year Contract (with potential extension) Overview: System One is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support planning and scheduling for engineering and construction projects within a complex technical environment. This role is remote and ideal for candidates with experience in EPC, nuclear, or other regulated industries. You will lead schedule development, analysis, and reporting efforts using Primavera P6 and contribute to high-level planning and strategy. Responsibilities: Planning Oversight & Guidance: + Provide expert scheduling guidance using CPM and Primavera P6. + Validate project schedules to align with industry best practices. + Support development of project milestones and key performance indicators (KPIs). + Advise on sequencing, logic ties, and scheduling optimization. Monitoring & Strategic Analysis: + Ensure accuracy and compliance with P6 schedule metrics. + Analyze costs, trends, and constraints to inform decision-making. + Provide "what-if" scenario planning and mitigation strategies. + Monitor critical path and schedule performance metrics. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: + Coordinate with project teams and stakeholders for schedule alignment. + Facilitate schedule review meetings and progress updates. + Support cross-discipline planning integration. + Provide actionable recommendations to management and clients. Process Improvement & Reporting: + Mentor project planning personnel to improve scheduling accuracy. + Conduct lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement. + Oversee reporting standards and ensure accurate data delivery. + Advise on resource loading and schedule-driven forecasting tools, including Power BI. Required Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related field. + At least 7 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, ideally in an EPC environment. + Proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project. + Understanding of CPM scheduling methodology. + Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. + Knowledge of engineering, construction, and/or nuclear systems. Preferred Qualifications: + Experience in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) oversight. + Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems and reporting tools like Power BI. + Knowledge of power generation operations or DOE-regulated projects.
