As the Project Controls Manager for Hatch Engineering’s Design division, you will oversee the full scope of project controls functions including planning, scheduling, cost management, change management, and reporting. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that design projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to contractual obligations. You will work in close integration with contractors to align project delivery objectives, manage interfaces, and support proactive coordination throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, you will support the risk management team with relevant project controls data and analysis.

  In this role you will be accountable for:   Project Controls Leadership Oversee and ensure the effective implementation of project controls processes tailored specifically for engineering design projects. Provide strategic oversight and integration of project scheduling, cost control, and change management activities. Ensure compliance with contractual requirements. Foster strong collaboration and integration with contractors to align deliverables, progress updates, and performance tracking.   Cost Management Oversee the establishment of project budget baselines, cost forecasting, and variance analysis. Supervise financial tracking and reporting for Time & Material contracts, ensuring accurate billing and transparency with clients. Ensure the implementation and use of Earned Value Management (EVM) processes for design projects. Collaborate with contractor teams to align project controls processes and resolve variances effectively.   Schedule Management Oversee the development and maintenance of integrated master schedules using Primavera (P6) or MS Project tailored for design phases. Review critical path analyses and schedule performance. Monitor schedule adherence, support interface coordination with contractors, and guide proactive recovery plans.   Change Management Oversee change management processes, ensuring accurate documentation and handling of scope variations. Evaluate and communicate impacts resulting from contractual changes or design scope modifications. Support the dedicated risk management team with timely data, trend analysis, and coordination input as needed.   Risk Management

Oversee and support proactive risk management activities throughout the project lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on collaborative delivery models such as Progressive Design-Build and alliances.
- Ensure timely identification, assessment, and mitigation planning for project risks.
- Integrate risk data from cost, schedule, and change functions into unified risk registers.
- Provide project leadership with ongoing risk trend analysis and forecasting to support informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with contractors, design teams, and risk specialists to maintain a transparent, shared understanding of project risks and opportunities.

  Reporting & Governance Ensure strict adherence to project controls reporting processes, templates, and governance protocols as defined by PMC Excellence, Governance, and the Director of Project Controls (Contractor Delivery). Prepare and deliver regular project performance reports in alignment with established standards and expectations. Report directly to the Project Director, while maintaining a functional reporting line to the Director of Project Controls - Contractor Delivery. The Director of Project Controls - Contractor Delivery will coordinate with the PMC Excellence Group to ensure consistent alignment of project controls practices across both corporate and project levels. Actively contribute to performance review meetings with project teams, contractors, and clients, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and accuracy.   Collaboration & Team Management Lead and mentor the project controls team, ensuring professional development and high standards of performance. Promote cross-functional collaboration across multidisciplinary design teams specifically related to project controls activities. Support business development activities, including oversight of bid preparation and cost estimation for new design contracts.   What you bring: Experience working in Progressive Design-Build (PDB), alliance contracts, or other collaborative delivery models is highly desirable and considered a strong asset. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in project controls specifically within engineering design environments. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field; advanced degrees preferred. Relevant certifications such as PMP, CCP, PSP, or equivalent are highly desirable. Proficient with industry-standard software: Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP, EcoSys, Excel, and relevant financial management tools. Expert-level knowledge of project scheduling, cost management, EVM, and contract management for engineering design projects. Strong experience in integrating and collaborating with contractor organizations. Proven ability to manage complex project environments, ensuring financial and schedule integrity. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning capabilities. Exceptional stakeholder management, leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
