Contract Type: Long-term W2 Contract (initial 1-year term, extendable)

About the Opportunity

This position is for one of our major clients, supporting a high-profile, long-term offshore FPSO project portfolio.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Lead to support a portfolio of FPSO projects focusing on the SURF (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers, and Flowlines) scope. This role will oversee project controls across multiple large-scale offshore projects with combined contracts valued at approximately $2.5 billion. The successful candidate will provide cost and schedule stewardship, progress analysis, reporting, and risk identification, working closely with internal teams and the EPC contractor.

Key Responsibilities

Lead project controls activities for multiple concurrent SURF projects within the portfolio.

Manage and integrate cost and schedule data, providing comprehensive monthly stewardship reporting.

Analyze progress against milestones, identify potential delays or risks, and communicate findings to project stakeholders.

Interface regularly with the EPC contractor to review progress, validate data, and ensure accurate reporting.

Travel 1–2 days per week to contractor offices in Houston and occasionally to manufacturing facilities in Louisiana for site assessments.

Oversee and mentor 1–2 junior project controls engineers, providing guidance and delegating tasks as needed.

Support portfolio management as new FPSO projects are added, ensuring continuity and integration across projects.

Qualifications Required:

Proven experience in project controls covering both cost and schedule management.

Minimum experience in the oil and gas industry with demonstrated project-level involvement.

Strong ability to analyze complex project data and proactively resolve discrepancies.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of working within a large, matrixed team environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the Houston area and occasionally to other domestic sites.

Preferred:

Experience with SURF systems (subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines) or similar offshore project scopes.

Background in either operator or EPC environments.

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not mandatory for candidates with extensive relevant experience.

Additional Information

Interviews will begin with virtual screening followed by in-person rounds.

Mileage and travel expenses to contractor offices will be reimbursed.

No specialized project controls software knowledge is required; the role is execution-focused rather than planning or estimating.
