Job Description· Provides estimates for MEP system each project phase: conceptual, schematic design, design development and construction documents
· Prepare detailed cost estimates via industry accepted methods such as RS Means for small and large projects. Estimates shall be provided in UNIFORMAT II and CSI formats, as well as other client specific formats. Ability to concentrate in one or more of the estimating. disciplines, including architecture, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, civil and structural.
· Prepares or assists in the preparation of order-of-magnitude, preliminary, definitive, change orders and check estimates using appropriate methods and techniques
· Performs cost comparison analyses between in-house estimates and contractor estimates
· Works with Project Managers and other disciplines to evaluate the appropriateness of budgets
· Utilizes the appropriate company and industry historical data for cost estimates
· Prepares project and discipline estimate summaries Basis of Estimate
· Prepares detailed quantity take-offs on design and construction documents as required utilizing software such as BlueBeam CAD or Xtreme, CostX, On-Screen Take-off, etc.
· Provides technical assistance and advice in negotiating contracts and pricing change orders.
· Establishes and maintains cost databases and product line specific parametric analysis tools
· Leads the estimate reconciliation process with the project team
· Prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates, and analysis of subcontractor bids etc. for projects
Maintains consistent and period communications with other estimators
Support procurement of MEP subcontractors and suppliers.Evaluate tender submissions and assist in contract negotiations.Administer MEP contracts, including variations, claims, and interim payments.Monitor and report on contract compliance and performanceTrack project costs and cash flow forecasts for MEP works.Prepare monthly cost reports, value engineering proposals, and final accounts.Evaluate and negotiate change orders and variations.Maintain change logs and ensure timely resolution of commercial issuesWork closely with design, engineering, and construction teams to ensure alignment on MEP scope and cost.Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors on commercial matters.Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field.Minimum 5–8 years of experience in quantity surveying with a focus on MEP systems.Strong knowledge of MEP systems in building or infrastructure projects.Familiarity with standard forms of contract (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, JCT).Proficient in cost management software (e.g., CostX, Uniphi, or similar).Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.Professional membership (e.g., PICQS, RICS, or equivalent).Experience working on international projects or with multinational teams.Knowledge of BIM and digital take-off tools.Additional InformationAbout AECOM
