Potelco, Inc. seeks a Project Billing Specialist to join the team in Sumner, WA.
The Project Billing Specialist claims revenue and creates invoices in accordance with accounting principles and contract terms. This role tracks revenue over time, produces reports to show trends, and analyzes project-level profitability. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail to ensure revenue is claimed and billed accurately while supporting operational and financial decision-making.
The hourly pay range for this role is: $30.00 – $35.00/hour (depending on experience).
What You'll DoProject Setup & Revenue Recognition:
Set up new projects in the accounting system, ensuring accurate financial structure, billing rules, and contract details in coordination with project management and operations.Recognize and record revenue in accordance with GAAP, including construction-specific revenue recognition methods (e.g., unit production, time and equipment).Ensure revenue accuracy and compliance with company policies and contract terms.Billing & Financial Reporting:
Prepare, review, and issue a high volume of customer invoices in accordance with contract terms, billing schedules, and customer-specific requirements.Ensure accuracy of pricing, quantities, coding, and supporting documentation.Compile, analyze, and consolidate billing and revenue data from multiple systems to produce recurring financial reports for management.Break down revenue by individual project and assist in determining project profitability.Reconciliations & Compliance:
Perform monthly reconciliations between the accounting system and internal databases to ensure financial integrity.Create journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.Retrieve and maintain supporting documentation for internal and external audits.Adhere to and support established accounting policies, methods, and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.What You'll Bring
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of 3 years of related accounting or billing experience.Firm understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.Experience working within an integrated accounting software system.Ability to balance multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using JD Edwards.Experience within a utility, contract utility, or construction company environment.
