Project Associate, Enrollment Communications

The University of Virginia seeks a collaborative, creative, and detail-oriented professional to serve as a Project Associate for Enrollment’s communication team and the work it does to support four constituent offices: Student Financial Services, the Office of Undergraduate Admission, the Office of the University Registrar, and the Virginia College Advising Corps. 

 

Responsibilities 

This position, reporting to the Director of Enrollment Communications, will work with communicators and colleagues to help support the implementation of a communications and marketing strategy that: 

Strengthens the excellence, success, and sense of community of the student body; 

Increases the number of low-income and first-generation high-school students across Virginia who enter and complete higher education; and 

Advances the mission of the University. 

This position will play an integral role in supporting and executing strategic communications campaigns that engage key audiences. It calls for a detail-oriented project lead who can help advance multi-channel marketing initiatives, balance short-term tasks with long-term strategies, and keep projects on track to achieve meaningful engagement and deliver on key metrics. 

The Project Associate will: 

Work as a member of the University Enrollment team to generate compelling marketing and communications efforts, with key responsibility for project management. 

Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and with a high degree of professionalism. 

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, etc.) to ensure alignment in messaging and consistency in communications. 

Assist in creating and monitoring communications project timelines. 

Create and coordinate standard reporting and analytics for communication initiatives to measure success. 

Prepare materials, documents, and data related to various marketing efforts. 

Participate in creative briefings, project meetings, design review, and content planning meetings. 

Provide ad-hoc problem-solving and support for day-to-day team needs. 

Minimum Qualifications 

Education: Bachelor's degree 

Experience: Two years of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with varying levels of complexity simultaneously, while maintaining attention to detail. 

Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Workfront, Asana) and an understanding of project management methodologies that will allow you to communicate project statuses and address any obstacles to project success. 

Ability to recommend and assist with implementing project management software that fits the needs of the communications team and team collaborators. 

Proven success working effectively in a fast-paced environment with all levels of management and across multiple offices, departments, or units. 

Experience supporting the development of project scopes and budgets, including the creation of detailed project plans – with timelines, milestones, and deliverables. 

Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges, problem-solve proactively, and manage multiple priorities. 

Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related products. 

Project management experience within a creative marketing space or similar team environment. 

Experience with vendor or agency management. 

PMP certification 

 

Physical Demands 

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. 

 

Salary Range 

The anticipated hiring range is $50,000–$60,000, commensurate with education and experience. 

 

Position Type & Work Location

This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and is eligible for a hybrid schedule in accordance with UVA’s remote work guidelines.
