Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Project Accountant with over 2 years of experience working for a general contractor. In this role, you will set up, lead, and oversee project accounting processes to ensure compliance with client contractual requirements and company policies. You’ll manage billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month-end close for large-scale construction projects, while providing financial insights to project teams. Key responsibilities include contract analysis, auditing project ledgers, managing vendor and subcontractor payments, and supporting project financial closeout. You’ll also assist with internal and external audits and contribute to risk management and profitability analysis.

Set up and implement billing and accounts receivable procedures per client contracts.Analyze contracts for billing deadlines, payment terms, and approved rates.Audit client billing and project ledgers for compliance with GAAP and company policy.Manage accounts payable for vendors and subcontractors, ensuring lien waivers and insurance compliance.Oversee month-end close, posting or accruing costs as needed.Update project assets and rentals for insurance documentation.Manage financial closeout and ensure all documentation requirements are met.Report cash position and communicate risks or profitability concerns to project teams.Assist with internal and external audit requests.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Must Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field2–5 years of accounting experiencePrior experience working at a general contractorStrong understanding of GAAP and contract terms related to profitability and riskProficiency in cost analysis proceduresAdvanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)Highly Preferred:
Familiarity with AIA G702/G703 billing formatsNice to Have:
Experience with SAP, Textura, and Microsoft OfficeWork Environment: Fully onsite in Denver, CO (occasional flexibility for personal needs). Free parking downtown.
