Project Accountant

About the Role

The Project Accountant serves as a key financial partner to Project Management, Operations, and Finance leadership, providing strategic financial oversight across assigned projects and business units. This role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, forecasting integrity, and performance visibility, while proactively driving profitability, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position is fully onsite and plays a critical role supporting operational and financial decision‑making following the departure of the current Project Accountant.

Location: Fully Onsite

Schedule: Full‑Time, Onsite (Monday–Friday)

Bonus: Up to 20% annual bonus potential (based on company and individual performance; not guaranteed)

Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary financial point of contact for assigned projects, delivering timely and insightful analysis on revenue, costs, WIP, margins, orders, taxes, and depreciation.Own monthly project close activities, including account analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries in compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.Monitor project cost baselines versus actuals, perform detailed variance analysis, and partner with project stakeholders to address deviations and improve financial outcomes.Lead monthly project forecasting, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with operational plans.Support the development of annual operating budgets and rolling forecasts, contributing to broader financial planning and strategic initiatives.Maintain and continuously improve documentation related to internal controls, audits, and compliance requirements.Perform labor cost monitoring and productivity analysis, offering actionable insights on workforce utilization and project efficiency.Partner closely with Project Managers and Operations leaders to strengthen financial discipline, improve forecasting accuracy, and enhance cost control practices.Collaborate with the Business Controller and Finance team on ad hoc analyses, reporting, and process improvement projects.Qualifications

Required:

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of New Berlin, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $78000.00/yr.
