Job Description

The Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of assigned projects. This includes preparing, reviewing, and submitting monthly AIA billing, ensuring billings align with contract terms and project progress, and tracking outstanding invoices to support timely collections.

Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and submit monthly AIA billing for assigned projects.Ensure billings align with contract terms, schedule of values, and project progress.Track and follow up on outstanding invoices to support timely collections.Coordinate with project managers to verify percent‑complete, change orders, and supporting documentation.Maintain accurate billing logs and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.Monitor project budgets, commitments, and costs to ensure accurate financial tracking.Assist with monthly project cost reports and forecasting.Reconcile project accounts and resolve discrepancies with internal teams or vendors.Support preparation of financial statements and internal reporting as needed.Work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure billing accuracy and resolve issues.Review subcontractor invoices and lien waivers for compliance with contract requirements.Assist with project closeout documentation and final billing.

Essential Skills

2+ years of experience in project accounting, billing, or related financial roles.Strong understanding of AIA billing formats and construction contract structures.Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.Experience in the construction industry or with general contractors.

This position is based in the Pensacola office, where a team is being built. The work environment is collaborative and focused on ensuring financial accuracy and compliance within the construction industry.Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pensacola, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $32.00/hr.
