Position SummaryThe Project Accountant is responsible for supporting all financial aspects of manufacturing projects, including cost tracking, budgeting, reporting, and analysis. This role partners closely with project managers, operations, engineering, and leadership to ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and aligned with company financial goals. The Project Accountant ensures accuracy, transparency, and consistency in all project‑related financial activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor project budgets, costs, labor hours, and material usage to ensure accurate financial tracking.Prepare and maintain project financial reports, including budget‑to‑actual summaries, cost forecasts, and variance analysis.Review and process project‑related invoices, purchase orders, and change orders.Collaborate with project managers and manufacturing leaders to evaluate project performance and address cost deviations.Support month‑end close activities by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and project cost adjustments.Maintain accurate project records, documentation, and audit trails.Assist in developing project budgets, cost estimates, and financial projections.Work closely with supply chain and operations to validate material costs and production‑related expenses.Track project milestones and ensure billing is completed accurately and on time.Provide financial insights to leadership to support business decisions and continuous improvement efforts.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience).2+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing or project‑based environment.Strong understanding of project accounting principles, cost accounting, and financial analysis.Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, or similar).Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and formulas.Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with manufacturing project workflows, bills of materials (BOMs), work orders, and job costing.Experience supporting engineering or capital projects.Knowledge of GAAP and standard cost accounting.Ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced environmentJob Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of New Berlin, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $78000.00/yr.
