Project Accountant
Description We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Project Accountant to manage financial operations for various construction projects in Raleigh, North Carolina. This position plays a vital role in maintaining accurate project financials, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and fostering collaboration across teams. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in construction accounting and excel in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. Responsibilities: • Oversee the full cycle of project accounting, including budget tracking, cost analysis, forecasting, and variance reporting. • Generate and review monthly job cost reports to identify and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with project managers. • Process invoices from subcontractors and vendors, verifying compliance with contract terms, lien releases, and insurance requirements. • Maintain accurate job cost coding for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses. • Support month-end close processes, including revenue reporting, schedule preparation, accruals, and reconciliations. • Assist in setting up contracts, managing change orders, creating purchase orders, and maintaining billing schedules. • Prepare and track timely progress billing, retainage, and other financial documentation. • Monitor cash flow for projects, assisting with collections efforts as necessary. • Ensure adherence to company accounting policies and procedures. • Collaborate with project managers, operational teams, and leadership to promote financial transparency and project profitability. Requirements • A minimum of 3 years of project accounting experience in the construction industry. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. • Comprehensive knowledge of construction accounting principles and job cost accounting. • Proficiency in construction accounting systems such as Viewpoint/Vista, Sage 300, Procore, or CMiC is preferred. • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. • Strong communication abilities to effectively work with non-financial stakeholders. • Proven capacity to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting. • Advanced Excel skills, including v-lookups and pivot tables, are a plus.
