Project Accountant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team in Kirkland, Washington. This role is pivotal in managing project-related financial activities, including billing, accounts receivable, and payroll support. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with project managers and leadership to ensure smooth financial operations and compliance. Responsibilities: • Oversee billing and accounts receivable functions for assigned divisions, ensuring accuracy and prompt processing. • Prepare detailed progress and time-and-materials billing in accordance with project requirements. • Analyze construction contracts to establish and refine billing procedures that align with contractual obligations. • Coordinate lien releases alongside billing and collections activities to maintain compliance. • Review, post, and reconcile accounts receivable payments on a regular basis. • Monitor daily cash transactions and maintain accurate cash register records. • Organize electronic project files to ensure proper documentation and readiness for audits. • Collaborate with project managers to align billing practices with job costs and project progress. • Conduct regular reviews of job costs and reconcile billing discrepancies to support project accounting. • Identify and implement process improvements for billing, accounts receivable, and project accounting workflows. The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000. Benefits: Medical Long Term Care 401k 2 weeks PTO 1 week sick time 6 paid holidays Requirements • Proven experience in project accounting, preferably within the construction industry. • Strong knowledge of billing processes, accounts receivable, and contract interpretation. • Familiarity with job costing practices and reconciliation methods. • Proficiency in handling payroll functions, including multi-state payroll considerations. • Ability to manage cash activity and maintain organized financial records. • Skilled in providing ad hoc reporting and accounting support to leadership. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain audit-ready documentation. • Effective communication and collaboration skills to guide entry-level accounting staff and work with cross-functional teams.
