Project Accountant
Job Title: Project Accountant Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Accountant to set up, lead, oversee, and implement procedures ensuring that client contractual requirements are met regarding billing and accounts receivable. The ideal candidate will perform client contract analysis to determine billing deadlines, payment terms, billable and non-reimbursable expenses, insurance agreements, and fee billings along with approved billing rates for staff and trade labor. Responsibilities + Set up, lead, and implement procedures to ensure compliance with client contractual requirements for billing and accounts receivable. + Perform client contract analysis to determine billing deadlines, payment terms, and applicable billing rates. + Regularly audit client billing and project ledger, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, GAAP, and company policy. + Manage accounts payable for vendor and subcontractor invoice processing, ensuring proper sales and use tax accounting. + Ensure submission of applicable lien waivers and contracts and insurance requirements prior to scheduling subcontractor payments. + Manage month-end close process, ensuring client bills and project costs are accurately posted or accrued. + Update project assets and rentals for insurance documentation in collaboration with the project team. + Manage project financial closeout, ensuring final contract amounts and closeout documentation meet subcontractor agreements. + Report cash position regarding net assets, liabilities, and unfunded work, communicating potential risks or profitability to the project team. + Assist with internal and external audit requests. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. + 3-5 years of relevant experience. + Experience working with general contractors. + Understanding of accounting implications of various contract terms related to profitability and risk management. + Ability to perform cost analysis procedures. + Proficiency in AIA G703 and AIA G702 billing software (highly preferred). + Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with SAP is a plus. Work Environment This is a fully on-site position with some flexibility for personal matters such as a sick child or doctor appointments. The role is part of a team of four, with the successful candidate being the fourth member. The workplace offers a downtown location with free parking and involves working on projects ranging from $60 million to $600 million.
