PROGRAM MANAGER, Political Science - MIT Compass, to steward iterations of the initiative’s first interdisciplinary class, 21.01 Compass Course. Designed by faculty from across MIT’s School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, with input from a 13-member Student Advisory Board, Compass is part of a multidisciplinary initiative that explores the persistent moral and social questions central to the human experience. The class is taught in a “flipped classroom” format, with in-person contact hours spent on active group discussion, activities, and debates. Students learn how to think about what kinds of humans they want to be, what kind of society they want to help create, and how we live together when we have different values and beliefs. Students also can attend plenary activities and field trips to local arts events. More information on Compass can be found on the class website. Will oversee some of the administrative and communications elements of MIT GOV/LAB, a research lab in the Department of Political Science that is led by Professor Lily L. Tsai, who directs the Compass Initiative; and support the Compass course (21.01), including, Management and continued development of the learning and evaluation plan for the course, including already-designed survey instruments.
