The Material/Process Engineering Intern is responsible for managing and monitoring the manufacturing processes for carbon/carbon composite aircraft brakes, qualifying new technology or new aircraft programs into production, and providing hands-on leadership in the identification and resolution of process issues that impact the product. The Material/Process Engineering intern will also identify and support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving product performance or reducing cost and variation. They work directly with all levels of staff from production floor to senior leadership to ensure the product meets all necessary quality standards while maintaining the site’s cost and delivery goals. You will have a unique opportunity to work with a propriety process and composite utilized in everyday flight. This role is onsite, in Santa Fe Springs, CA. This role may be eligible for relocation.
What **You** Will Do:
+ You will do ongoing production monitoring and troubleshooting of problems associated with guidance from engineers on the team.
+ You will do data mining and analysis in support of root cause investigations and justification or validation of changes.
+ You will write detailed technical reports and deliver presentations.
+ You will write and maintain product & process specifications.
+ You will support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at cost reduction or process improvement.
+ You will liaison among multiple carbon sites, Troy headquarters, and other departments regarding support/information associated with their brake programs.
What **You** Will Learn:
+ You will learn the manufacturing process for carbon/carbon composites.
+ You will learn the workings of Aerospace specifications.
+ You will learn Discrepant Material Review and Material Review Board processes.
Qualifications **You** Must Have:
+ Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
+ U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
+ Project management experience
+ Skilled in technical writing and presentation delivery
+ Experience with data manipulation and analysis (SQL/Excel/Minitab)
+ Experience with manufacturing or aerospace
+ Experience working with composite materials
