Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Program Mileage Dyno Operator. This role requires flexibility to work on 2nd and 3rd shifts, with initial training provided on the 1st shift. The primary responsibility involves installing, removing, and monitoring test vehicles on a chassis dynamometer, utilizing portable test equipment. You will be working both indoors and outdoors, with 20-25% of the time spent outdoors for test preparation and vehicle fueling, among other tasks. This position plays a crucial role in supporting various engineering teams by accumulating mileage on vehicles to facilitate testing at specific mileages.

ResponsibilitiesInstall and remove vehicles from the chassis dynamometer.Monitor and set up tests, ensuring proper operation of non-intrusive robots.Collect and analyze test data.Conduct safety observation tours and investigate team safety incidents.Engage in the Employee Safety Concern Process (ESCP).Complete the test request process and prep vehicles for testing.Conduct WPO assignments as scheduled.Participate in BPD activities and problem-solving for continuous improvement.Communicate and escalate issues effectively and timely.Train team members using the JIT Process and update flexibility charts.Attend and participate in shift overlap meetings.Maintain standardized work documents and ensure they are up-to-date.Complete quality audits and resolve quality issues.Understand and comply with environmental aspects.Participate in the Throughput Improvement Process (TIP).Maintain test sites clear of hazards such as snow, ice, oil, and fuel.Essential SkillsHands-on automotive experience and technician skills.Mechanical inclination and ability to troubleshoot.Basic understanding of vehicle communication tools.Experience with test automation systems and chassis dyno.Desire to learn new skills and work with test equipment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications2-year technical degree.At least 3 years of experience preferred.Exposure to robotics and test technician experience is beneficial.Auto tech experience is helpful.Understanding of vehicle components and repair is advantageous.Work Environment

The work environment consists of an outdoor chassis dyno lab with indoor control room operations. Outdoor tasks are required at times, including fueling and checking fluids. The role demands flexibility to work on 2nd or 3rd shifts, with a significant portion of time spent monitoring tests from the control room. Outerwear is provided for outdoor work. Physical requirements include DOT certification.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
