Job Responsibilities:

This position will work out of the Windsor, ON area
The Program Manager (PM) develops and manages new and existing programs by recommending, monitoring or adjusting appropriate plant operating procedures to meet program requirements within the manufacturing facility.  Coordinates program vendor activities including design, tooling and parts suppliers to ensure cost, deliver and quality targets are met according to customer requirements and schedules.  Prepares quotations for piece cost and tooling.  Provides technical launch support at customer locations.   

Work closely with assigned customer accounts to gather pertinent RFQ information for all new tooling projects to be passed on to estimating as per ISO work instructionsTake a sales approach when following up on quotes submitted to customerProvide regular future sales forecast updates to assist in the upfront capacity planning processManage new internal tool builds as well as those built by our strategic partners in tooling to ensure the best value tooling that will yield the highest part quality with the lowest cost of ownership (The Global Tooling Strategy)Use NX CAD software to interrogate tool/part models to define scope of engineering changes/repairs on both new and existing tooling projectsDevelop engineering change and repair estimates as per ISO work instructions that include detailed breakdowns of work to be performedSupport new programs by attending product development meetings at customer facilities to ensure tooling is considered with respect to timing, product design and costWork closely with advanced feasibility designers to provide timely and accurate part/tooling feasibility feedback during the early stages of part developmentMaintain new tool job summary spread sheets for each tool build project to track all commercial activity statusReview all purchase orders for new tool and engineering change projects to ensure all aspects of the purchase orders (price, payment terms/dates etc.) are in line with all quotations prior to purchase order acceptanceAttend new tool trials documenting all details of any tooling related deficiencies as per ISO work instructionsProvide complete new tool kickoff information to design group as per ISO work instructionsFacilitate various customer reviews for new tooling projects ensuring that all proper approvals are in place at the various stages of developmentFacilitate engineering change, warranty and repair meetings with production as per ISO to ensure clear scope of work to be performed is clearly definedEnsure any changes to customer specifications or processes that would affect their tooling, are communicated back to the appropriate personnel at TycosMust be able to provide timely and accurate progress reports on programs as requested by customersAssist in improving our program management systems and processesMust be able to travel globally to any of our Magna Divisions 30-40% of the time on short notice (Asia, Europe, Mexico & within NA)Fully capable of working on the mold either on the floor or in a locked out injection molding machine Capable for successfully managing over 30+ molds with same kick off timeAttend mold flow reviews, can identify issues and provide suggestions with a strong understanding of filling analysis such as pressures, hesitation, shear rates, freeze off conditions etc.Develop customer relationships that support our ability to be successful.Utilize effective communication with Employees, Managers, Divisions and CustomersIncorporate best practices and lessons learned into process designs and communicate lessons learned for the benefit of other programs

Education:

College diploma / University degree in Mechanical Engineering PMP designation or Tool Maker’s certificateLighting injection mold experience considered a strong asset

Experience:

10+ years of experience in mold making machining or automotive manufacturingMust have strong understanding of the tool function and manufacturing processes for small, medium & large injection toolsMold design experience (large size tooling) with an emphasis on part/tooling feasibilityMold making  and  mold processing experience (preferably with fascias), an asset

Skills:

Advance understanding of tool design (core, cavity, ejection, injection, actions (lifters/slides), components)Advance understanding of tool manufacturing (3D cnc machining, 2D boring mill, gun-drilling, EDM, Polishing)Advance understanding of toolmaking process (fitting of components, spotting core to cavity parting line, disassembly/assembly, polishing, welding)Proficient in the use of 3D NX design software for the purpose of part/tool interrogationEffectively network and communicate to utilize resources within the companyStrong  Microsoft Office (including Project and Visio) and Outlook skillsPerform well in high pressure situationsStrong negotiation, problem solving and facilitation skillsExcellent organizational and time management skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills - verbal and electronicSelf-motivated and able to work independentlyPossess sound financial and business knowledge, an assetAbility to communicate in a second language, an asset (Spanish, Mandarin, German, Portuguese, Polish)Awareness, Unity, Empowerment:At Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
