Program Manager
SUMMARY

 

This position is responsible for implementation and continual improvement of the phased gate review process for application specific product launches, development projects, and other types of internal projects to ensure the Skokie Plant delivers its projects and programs in accordance with well-defined goals (performance, timing, quality, and cost).  For customer specific multi-part applications across multiple value streams, this person will directly manage programs, as well as other projects/program as determined by the Management Team.  The Program Manager will also oversee a portfolio of projects across all value streams...

 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions as defined by the ADA, except those that begin with the word ‘may”.)

 

Promote a disciplined approach to project management using Federal-Mogul’s phased gate review process throughout the Skokie Plant

 

Work to continually improve the Skokie Plant gate review process

 

Personally manage assigned programs; develop project plans

 

Oversee the portfolio of Skokie Plant projects assigned to him/her (if applicable)

 

Coordinate or conduct Project Gate Reviews, and provide “fresh eyes” input for Gate Reviews on other projects

 

Manage resources for projects he/she personally manages

 

Provide line of support for project managers in the value streams

 

Responsible for setting and meeting program targets

 

Monitor the performance of project teams through the use of agreed upon metrics

 

Escalate visibility of at-risk projects/programs

 

Provide regular summary of project portfolio status

 

Work directly with customers and suppliers as needed on specific programs

 

Work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to create team accountability for projects

 

Work closely with Project Managers and Launch Coordinators/Managers in the Value Streams and coordinate manufacturing requirements between customer manufacturing facilities and the Skokie Plant with respect to specific program needs

 

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

 

BS engineering, Professional Program Management Certification, or equivalent experience.

 

3 years technical experience or 3 years project management experience minimum

 

Knowledge and experience in project management methodologies

 

Ability to plan and manage complex projects crossing over many departmental lines

 

Good problem solving skills.  Able to effectively use problem-solving tools such as fault tree analysis, Ishikawa diagrams, etc.

 

Working knowledge of continual improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies.

 

Effective communication skills, written and oral, to all levels of the organization (internal, customers and suppliers)

 

Working knowledge of computers and software, with the capability to thoroughly learn new applications

 

Thorough knowledge of MS Project

 

Attention to detail, goal oriented and results based thinking

 

Effective in a team environment.

1.     Ability to visually analyze a variety of products and processes.

 

2.     Ability to walk and move about, stoop and bend.

 

Ability to stand/walk for an eight hour shift.

 

Ability to clearly give and receive information through verbal (speaking & hearing) and written forms.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Works in both a plant and office environment.

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $90,000.00 to $135,000.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
