Position Summary The Program Leader I is responsible for managing a classroom of up to 20 students, ensuring their safety, and delivering engaging, high-quality programming. Program areas may include, but are not limited to, sports, STEM, coding, nutrition, outdoor education, and creative arts.
View Job Description Requirements / QualificationsPrimary Responsibilities Facilitate project-based learning to support student skill development. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment in both classroom and outdoor settings. Set and reinforce clear behavioral expectations using positive discipline strategies. Ensure every student feels known, accepted, valued, and respected. Communicate effectively to build trust with students, staff, and families. Model and uphold the mission and values of ProYouth through professional conduct and appearance. Supervise students in various settings (e.g., classroom, playground, library) to ensure safety and adherence to program expectations. Collaborate with the Site Director and program staff to plan and deliver engaging, well-organized activities. Address concerns and challenges promptly with the appropriate supervisor. Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with coworkers, school staff, and families. Participate in staff meetings, site trainings, and professional development opportunities. Demonstrate professionalism and accountability in all responsibilities. Support team collaboration and contribute to a positive work environment. Complete assigned tasks accurately and on time. Perform other duties as assigned, within the scope of training and responsibilities.
Education and Experience Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree. Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent, and one of the following: Completion of 48 college semester units, or Valid NCLB Paraprofessional Certification. At least two years of experience working with youth (preferred).
