The Read to Me Project is a nonprofit organization contracted by public K-12 schools in Monterey county to promote early literacy. We work directly with elementary school students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students teaching them the basics of brain development, early literacy, and the importance of reading. The curriculum throughout the year focuses on the 9 Best Ways to Read to Young Children. Students with a little one ages 6 months through kindergarten are given the opportunity to check-out books, provided by Read to Me Project, to read to their little ones at home. Students without a little one at home are invited to find people to read to such as parents or reading buddies at school.
