The Program (Process) Engineer II is responsible for managing and monitoring the manufacturing-related processes for carbon-carbon fiber brakes for aerospace applications, qualifying new technology and aircraft programs into production, and providing hands-on leadership in the identification of sources of process/product variation.

The Program Engineer will also identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives, typically aimed at improving product performance, reducing process variation and product cost. They will work directly with all levels of staff from production floor to senior leadership to ensure production material meets all necessary quality standards while still maintaining on-time delivery goals.

What You Will Do:

You will work onsite at our Pueblo, CO Carbon facilityCollaborates with plant and engineering staff to identify possible chemical or materials engineering tool-related problemsDesigns and plans layout of equipment to optimize the chemical and materials engineering processesPerforms laboratory studies of steps in the manufacturing of new products and tests proposed processes in small scale operations such as a pilot plant to ensure feasibility and viabilityDetermines appropriate methods for fabricating and joining materials to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering designMonitors material performance and evaluates material deterioration to ensure required specifications are metDesigns, develops and tests metallic and non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designsResearches to develop new and improved chemical manufacturing processesDetermines arrangement of operations such as mixing, crushing, heat transfer, distillation, oxidation, hydrogenation, and polymerization to optimize efficiency and effectivenessAnalyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystemsPerforms material analyses that include, but are not limited to, failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specificationsApplies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non­metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processesMay review and approve subcontractor material processing proceduresOngoing production monitoring and troubleshooting of problems associated with all assigned aircraft programsContinuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing cost, and reducing process variationLiaison interdepartmentally within Pueblo regarding production issues associated with their aircraft programsLiaison between Troy, the other carbon sites, and Pueblo regarding support/information associated with their aircraft programsResponsible for maintaining and/or writing of specs and drawings for all assigned aircraft programs at the AMF level and belowParticipate in Continuous Improvement activitiesComplete other duties as assigned

Must Have Qualifications:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

Formal education in Chemical or Material Science Engineering2-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing engineering environmentAerospace Manufacturing experienceAircraft program and/or project management experienceData mining experienceExperience in technical writing and management presentations

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
