The start date is January 1, 2026. Successful candidates will have backgrounds in Child/Human Development, Developmental Psychology, Child Life, Child/Family Science, Disability Studies, or related fields. Experience in child development, assessment, early intervention, or family science is desired. The Child Life & Family Science program is part of the School of Health Professional and Education at Utica University. This on-ground, full-time undergraduate program prepares students to work with children and families in various careers including, early childhood/childhood education, child life specialist, social services, and early intervention. Faculty in this position will teach a variety of child development/early education, early intervention, and family science courses. Responsibilities include teaching, scholarly activity, student advising, and service to the school and department, School of Health Professions and Education, Utica University, and the community. Location Utica, NY Application Deadline *Full consideration by*: 10/01/2025 Open Until Filled Yes Major Responsibilities + Teach undergraduate courses addressing areas such as Child and Adolescent Development, Early Intervention, Observation and Assessment, Disabilities and Mental Health, and Child/Family Science; + Advise students in the major; + Help develop curriculum and field experience activities; + Collaborate with faculty and community stakeholders for program improvement; + Participate in program governance and assessment at the School and University levels as well as contribute to one’s professional organizations; + Help create and/or assist with online, hybrid, and on-ground courses; + Participate in continuous assessment of program-level and student learning outcomes; + Develop research and participate in scholarly activity; + Develop and maintain positive community relations with relevant child and family agencies, child and family development centers, and other community outreach organizations; + Provide service to the University and professional organizations; and + Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Driving Responsibilities Travel Supervises Education Required Certification Required Education & Experience Qualifications + Relevant professional experience working with young children and families; + 2+ years of teaching experience in child development, assessment, early intervention, child life, or family services; + Demonstrated success in education, research, and scholarly activities. Minimum Skills/Abilities + Candidates with terminal doctoral degrees in Child Development, Child/Family Sciences, Psychology, Disability Studies, or closely related fields are preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered upon evidence of near completion of the degree. + Experience teaching in higher education (e.g., college/university) online or in-residence; + Evidence of ability to teach a variety of child development, early intervention, observation and assessment, child life or child/family science courses; + Excellent professional skills including analytical, oral/written communication, teamwork, assessment, and organizational skills.
