Position TypeFaculty Work Hours/Week40 Description of Work Unit TheDepartment of Human Development and Family Studies (https://www.chhs.colostate.edu/hdfs/) ( HDFS ) is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Colorado State University. Recognized as a top program in the United States, the HDFS Department is committed to excellence, setting the standard in teaching, research, and outreach for examining human development across the lifespan in the context of families, schools, communities, and culture. HDFS is home approximately 90 employees, including 37 faculty, 49 administrative professionals and support staff. With more than 900 students in its undergraduate degree programs, the HDFS Department is one of the largest degree conferring departments at Colorado State University.Academic programs include Bachelor of Science degrees in HDFS , with multiple concentrations, and Early Childhood Education, leading to Colorado Early Child Education licensure in kindergarten through third grade. The Master of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Studies offers a general track and two specializations: Marriage and Family Therapy, accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Marriage & Family Therapy Education, and Prevention Science. The Doctoral Program in Applied Developmental Science a state-of-the-art training program in basic and applied research on human development, family, and prevention science theory and research from a lifespan ecological perspective, and the translation of research into evidence-based programs, practice, and policy. HDFS has over 60 graduate students across these degree programs and the online Master of Prevention Science Practice. Faculty and student research is supported by the largest extramural funding portfolio in the college, with scholarship that spans topics such as child and adolescent development; risk, resilience, and developmental psychopathology; treatment, intervention. and prevention science; emotion regulation and relational process; and adult development and aging. This position is a 12-month, full-time faculty position. We are seeking applicants who are excited about joining a strong department and who have a proven record of academic leadership, innovative research, effective teaching and mentorship, meaningful service, and outstanding interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Successful candidates will have demonstrated high ethical standards and are expected to operate in a transparent and collegial way. Additionally, successful candidates should be responsive to the needs of faculty, staff, and students within the department and have a strong commitment to working collectively to elevate the Department of HDFS to the next level of national and international recognition. Preferred Job Qualifications + Experience as department head/chair, associate dean, or center, institute, program director. + Experience with assessment and accreditation/reaccreditation processes. + Demonstrated experience in maximizing faculty, staff, and student professional growth and potential. + Experience leading the tenure and promotion process and annual review of faculty and staff. + Demonstrated record of effective fundraising and donor relation experience. + Demonstrated ability to facilitate open and collaborative relationships within and external to the unit (e.g., agency or state partners). + Experience with, or strong familiarity of, community outreach in relation to a land-grant institution(s). + Familiarity with managing financial assets, comprehending fiscal systems/reports, and experience with developing and forecasting realistic budgets.
