About the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology at Humber:
The Faculty of Applied Sciences Technology (FAST) at Humber College offers a dynamic and innovative learning environment, combining academic theory with hands-on practice in fields such as cybersecurity, engineering, embedded systems, and skilled trades. With cutting-edge facilities, applied research projects, and strong industry connections, FAST prepares students for careers in emerging technologies and complex systems. Faculty members play an integral role in advancing research and developing future leaders in technology and applied sciences.
About the Professor, Carpentry Stackables Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching subjects in Carpentry Techniques, Building Construction Technician and Construction Engineering Technology Post-Secondary Programs including courses such as but not limited to: Residential Framing, Interior Finishes, and Principles of Construction Law. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of Construction and Installations practices for both residential and commercial applications.
The successful candidate will encourage student learning and be comfortable working in a culturally diverse setting. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include: classroom management and evaluation; use of Humber’s LMS system – Blackboard, designing and developing courses and labs; program promotion; recommending program advisory committee members; and contributing to the overall direction of the department. The incumbent will also provide leadership in partnership development with particular emphasis on securing collaborative, industry driven student projects.
The incumbent will teach, develop curriculum, design/revise specific courses, create an effective and innovative learning environment for our students, assess student progress and achievement; work collaboratively with colleagues, participate in committees and related associations.
The incumbent will also support student advising, student recruitment, graduate placement, assist with the promotion and marketing of programs and develop and maintain strong industry ties.

Education
The successful candidate will have experience in the Construction field as well as a minimum of 8-9 years of relevant industry experience and teaching experience in the construction field. Candidates must also possess a red seal in the trade.
Formal studies in adult or higher education and or Baccalaureate is also an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake and or demonstrate successful completion of a recognized Adult Education Certificate.The successful candidate should possess teaching ability and an understanding of the learning process. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, strong written and oral communication skills. In addition, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate engaging and effective teaching skills, an ability to coach and support students and a clear understanding of managing classroom dynamics. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge and understanding of current pedagogical principles, a student centered approach and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion, be a collaborative team player and be committed to a positive team culture.
