Professional Staff Nurse, Skilled Nursing – Days/Evenings

UPMC Muncy Place, a skilled nursing facility in Muncy, PA, is hiring a Professional Staff Nurse for a 40-hour work week, with shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM, including every other holiday and weekend rotation. The nurse will be responsible for delivering quality nursing care, collaborating with the Unit Manager and other healthcare professionals, and applying clinical knowledge to achieve positive care outcomes. The role requires assessing and interpreting resident data to meet age-specific needs and ensuring relevant care throughout the lifespan.

Sign-On Bonus:

Experienced RNs (over 1 year of experience) are eligible for a $15,000 sign-on bonus.

Job Duties:

Professional Development:

Demonstrate accountability for professional growth to improve practice and patient care quality. Recommend clinical care improvements and participate in change initiatives. Build healthy relationships with colleagues and other disciplines. Set priorities, understand shared governance, and participate at the unit level. Support colleagues and participate in team initiatives.

Clinical Practice:

Apply nursing knowledge and skills within the Relationship-Based Care framework. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in documentation. Demonstrate critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, safety, and spiritual issues. Incorporate goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction. Formulate care plans and daily goals considering individual patient needs. Seek opportunities to improve clinical practice and ask for guidance. Build healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Identify ethical situations and seek assistance. Accept assignments that gradually increase in complexity.

Clinical Development:

Engage in clinical development and/or RN residency programs. Learn safe, accountable, and autonomous practice from experienced nurses. Utilize performance feedback to improve practice. Demonstrate enthusiasm for continuous learning and create a development plan. Identify patient and family education needs and provide basic education. Seek professional development through nursing organizations and literature.

Research and Quality Improvement:

Demonstrate basic knowledge of research and its impact on practice. Participate in unit-based journal clubs and quality improvement initiatives. Manage resident care using the nursing process and evidence-based standards. Provide psychosocial support and counseling. Collaborate with physicians and care teams to ensure quality care. Report and record changes in resident condition or behavior. Comply with medication use policies, safety procedures, and infection control.

Communication and Safety:

Communicate clearly and effectively with the healthcare team. Demonstrate awareness of cultural diversity, horizontal violence, and impairment in health professions. Support workplace safety for patients and self.
