Professional Staff Nurse, OP – Ambulatory Detox

Purpose:
UPMC is looking for a Professional Staff Nurse to join their Ambulatory Detox program. Ambulatory Detox is a program working in conjunction with the Center for Psychiatric and Chemical Dependency Services to provide outpatient withdrawal management to individuals with substance use disorders. This position provides screening patients for ambulatory detox while working collaboratively with psychiatrists as well as other providers within the clinic.
Responsibilities:
Participates in quality improvement initiatives and promotes evidence-based practice. Identifies and communicates opportunities to enhance patient care and satisfaction. Builds positive, collaborative relationships across all levels of staff and with patients/families. Demonstrates strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and adaptability in complex environments. Educates patients, families, students, and staff using adult learning principles. Supports staff development and fosters a culture of continuous learning and feedback. Develops holistic, patient-centered care plans and coordinates care with physicians. Communicates effectively to ensure continuity and quality of care; maintains thorough documentation. Engages in professional development and shared governance to improve care and work environment. Adapts to change and actively contributes to team goals and transitions. Maintains accountability, cultural sensitivity, and a healthy work-life balance. Promotes workplace safety and models responsible time management and self-care.
