The job family spans across multiple engineering disciplines. Work consists of designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting and debugging systems, software and solutions for research and/or research development of product, services, and solutions for HPE’s portfolio. Requires a broad knowledge and application of engineering disciplines, methodologies and tools. 

Job Family Definition for Executive Levels only: Directs and manages a diverse team of engineering professionals performing research, development, design and/or implementation of products, services, solutions for the company’s portfolio. Responsible for creating and communicating technical strategy within the organization and/or across the function.

Management Level Definition:

Contributions include applying developed subject matter expertise to solve common and sometimes complex technical problems and recommending alternatives where necessary. Might act as project lead and provide assistance to lower level professionals. Exercises independent judgment and consults with others to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.

What you'll do:

Resident Engineer position is part of Juniper Global Delivery Services team for Routing & Switching , SDWAN + Wireless networks. This position is a highly technical role, providing post-sales support of Junipers Network Products. The Resident Engineer will be required to develop and maintain expertise on the products deployed or to be deployed within the Customer’s network. This role requires close integration of efforts between Services, Development Engineering, Product Management and Sales.

This is a full-time position that requires some schedule flexibility to effectively interface with global colleagues.

Job Responsibilities: 

Hold design and information-gathering workshops with the Customer to understand the Customer’s existing network design.Identify, research, and resolve technical problems of a diverse scope, where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.Assist customer/partner for troubleshooting the network’s design and architecture issues, analysing network and device configurations.Work in a consultative manner to support full-stack enterprise solutions( SD-WAN, Campus and Branch switching, Security, Core and Edge, and Wireless) towards the end customer and creating solutions to cater to the automation use cases in these areas.Experience in Wireless Predictive Design using Ekahau or other tools.Assist in creating and Updating Mist Templates and apply configuration.Assist in creating Pre-Deployment checklists.Co-Creating & customizing of site implementation Plans (i.e. Run-Books).Solution innovative automation designs to cater to the design delivery and also helping towards development of new and innovative software driven integration solutions.Work internally with Juniper SE and Engineering team to relay & drive functionality requirements specific to customer environment.Work closely with other resident engineers, customer and Juniper Technical Assistance Centre to optimize network. Acts as a customer technical liaison for Juniper Networks support and development teams.Test product features and functionality to provide solution post implementation to meet design requirement.Provide deployment guidance to ensure that implementations are consistent with design specifications.Apply extensive industry experience to improve network performance and proactively analyse potential enhancements. Evaluating technical specifications for interoperability.Assist customer/Partner in the development and testing of new features and solutions.Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise to expand knowledge base.Hold discussions on customer requirements and assist them on network problems, design needs and the workarounds/solutions that are being tried.Hold technology workshops with the Customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds/solutions that are being tried.Document network design requirement and update design document time to time.Validate MOP’s and assist partner and customer during migration/implementation.Adhere to Juniper process and provide best practices to help customer optimize/design network with worldwide trend/solutions.Proactive alerts on security threats, compliances, bulletins & procedures. 

What you need to bring:

Bachelor's degree in engineering with 8+ of experience with relevant network troubleshooting experience. Proven experience in designing and managing large service Provider networks.Strong influencing skills, design, consultation, and presentation experience directly related to operational experience.Understand Service provider core & edge network, Troubleshoot complicated hardware and software issues, replicate customer environments and network problems in the lab.Good Junos skills and understanding of product architectures.Strong skills and excellent hands-on and planning capabilities with,Juniper CSO,SRX,SSR(128T) or other SDWAN Products like Versa, Cisco Viptela, Silver peak.DC and Campus fabric implementation with Juniper EX and QFX or Similar products from Cisco, Arista.Mist AP and Cloud or Similar cloud based wireless solution from other vendors like Aruba, Extreme Networks, Cisco Meraki.CASB,SWG,DLP,ZTNA ,SASE,SSE .Experience of designing and deploying RADIUS and NAC enterprise solutions using Cisco ISE, Aruba Clearpass, Forescout or similar vendors will be added advantage.Juniper Networks SRX firewalls and/or of the security products: Cisco, Check Point.Network OS like Junos or IOS.Experience with VPNs and the associated tunnelling technologies and architectures - IPSEC(Authentication and Encryption, DES, 3DES, MD5, SHA, PKI), GRE, SSL, hub and spoke.Layer 3 - IP and related technologies (IS-IS, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, TCP, GRE, IPSec, QoS).Experience in advanced Datacentre technologies – VxLAN, EVPN, MCLAG, IP Fabric,GBP.Sound knowledge of Service Provider background.Layer 2 technologies (Ethernet, 802.1q/p VLAN, BFD, STP, RSTP, ARP, LACP, VRRP, 802.1x).Experience with NAT (Source, Destination, Static, NAT-PT) and Network Access Control. Hands on experience on NAC products like Cisco Ice, Aruba clearpass, forescout etc.Hands-on experience with Linux servers and network services (DHCP, SNMP, FTP, TFTP, DNS, NTP).Familiar with Wireless technologies like IEEE 802.11 standards (b,g,n, ac,ax), 802.1x Wi-Fi.Strong knowledge of Controller based or cloud based wireless management and solutions.Experience designing, deploying, configuring, supporting, troubleshooting, debugging and administering some of the following Wireless LAN products, devices, and technologies for small, medium, large and/or enterprise businesses such as the following: • Wireless Access Points • Wireless Client Association • Wireless Controllers • CSMA/CA, RTS, CTS protocols • RF transmission/site survey • AntennasWEP encryption (Wired Equivalent Privacy) , WPA (Wi-Fi Protocol Access), WPA2.Experience/Knowledge of Virtualization and Hypervisor Technologies like ESXi, KVM.Ability to execute projects using scripting and/or relevant programming languages, for example, shell, Python, Ansible.Familiar and Hands-On with traffic generation tool (Ixia, Spirent, etc.).Understanding of Cloud Concept, Private and Public Cloud, Design Fundamentals.Application of Firewalls, Access and Perimeter control, Vulnerability Management , Network Intrusion. Detection and prevention, Malware analysis & detection tools, Threat intelligence management, UTM Solutions, Security Signatures.Certifications – JNCIP/JNCIE or CCNP/CCIE is a strong plus.Strong understanding of RESTful API design and developmentSoftware development and Automation with Python, Golang, Ansible, JavascriptKnowledge in Containers and Orchestration (Docker, K8S), Kafka, Elastic SearchWorking experience in Gitlab and Pipelines
