Professional Expert, Part-Time, Temporary - Director, Levan Institute for Lifelong Learning
Basic Function

The Director has the responsibility of implementing the mission of the Levan Institute:

Provide educational courses and programs in order to enrich the lives of people 55 years of age and older residing in the Bakersfield College service area.

This is a part time position.

Representative Duties

Develop and implement policies and procedures as required to fulfill the Institute’s mission and expand the scope of its activitiesDevelop and manage an annual budgetMaintain financial and other recordsMonitor the fiscal health of the Levan Institute and make recommendations to ensure its continued operationRecruit and hire instructorsHire and supervise support personnelDevelop courses, programs, and servicesDevelop student fee schedulesDevelop course calendars and schedulesSupervise and schedule distribution through print, online, social media, and other means as appropriateWork with vendors and College personnel to develop instructional technology systems to meet program needs, including an Institute websiteProvide support services for instructorsDevelop instructor compensation schedulesEvaluate programs and instructorsDevelop and implement marketing plans, including collaborative efforts with College personnel and community groupsWork with the Bakersfield College Foundation to realize the fundraising required to meet the needs of the InstituteChair the Levan Institute CommitteeRecruit Levan Institute Committee members as neededWork with outside organizations such as the Road Scholar LLI Resource Network     20. Perform other duties as required to implement the mission of the program

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree and at least five years’ experience as faculty and/or educational administration or equivalent experience desired. A master’s degree and experience as higher education faculty and/or administration desired.
