Production Supervisor - Smith Equipment

Job Description:

Smith Equipment, a division of Miller Electric, is seeking a Production Supervisor to join our team who are highly tenured and engaged in making an impact.  As a Production Supervisor, you’ll be on the front lines—mentoring our team and solving problems that matter. This role is a great opportunity for someone who’s passionate about safety, process optimization, and building a culture of continuous improvement.

How you will Make an Impact:

Leadership:

Inspire and coach teams on a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.Act as a coach/trainer for critical manufacturing/assembly processes, empowering the operations teamLead the implementation of new processes and changes following ITWs continuous improvement toolbox, ensuring a smooth and successful transition.Responsible for interviews, employee onboarding, training, performance reviews, merit discussions and development of the team.Manage external contractors and internal maintenance support resources when needed, forging strong partnerships to ensure seamless operations.Embrace flexibility and enthusiastically take on any other duties assigned by management, knowing that your contributions are vital to our success.Advocate for the procurement of capital equipment, justifying investments that drive efficiency and enhance processes.

Safety:

Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams, management, and safety committee, working hand in hand to support safety-related initiatives effectively.Embrace the opportunity to understand, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing/assembly processes, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery.Assume responsibility for achieving assembly specifications, meeting facility requirements, and aligning with our evolving business needs.Co-own the development, implementation, and sustainment of cultivating a workplace that is organized, efficient, and conducive to success.Champion compliance with government regulations, demonstrating our commitment to operating ethically and responsibly.

Collaboration:

Build employee relationships through daily, open, and direct communication while encouraging creativity and innovation.Hands on approach understanding the processes, connecting with the team and by learning the Smith product.Collaborate with the operations team to develop production capacity and contingency plans, strengthening our division's resilience.Support and maintain formal manufacturing assembly documentation, ensuring accurate records and streamlined processes.Stay at the forefront of technological advancements, actively researching and implementing improvements to our existing systems.

Qualifications:

Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be consideredPreference of Bachelor Degree with 2 years of manufacturing leadership experience, or Associate Degree with 4 years of manufacturing leadership experience, or GED/High School Diploma and 6 years of manufacturing leadership experience.
