Production Supervisor

The Opportunity

The Production Supervisor responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the Injection Molding department and staffing. The position will ensure it has sufficient personnel and components to operate safely and efficiently. Working with the Process Engineer, ensure that all machines are well maintained, serviced, cleaned, and improved and ensure the best possible levels of productivity. Maintenance includes the monitoring all feeding tubes and parts hoppers as well as all PLC's, motors, conveyors and end operations equipment necessary to run safely and efficiently. The Production Supervisor will troubleshoot, and conduct repairs as needed to successfully clear the alarm codes the machine displays that requires more than a reset. The Production Supervisor will ensure the injection molding area and adjacent areas are maintained in constant state of cleanliness. The Production Supervisor may be required to assist or conduct general and injection molding maintenance and may act as back up to the general maintenance technician, injection mold maintenance, and mold maintenance engineer. In the absence of the Process Engineer, this position reports to the Plant Manager.

Perform all work in accordance with the highest standards of Smurfit Westrock-Vitop safety policies, ensure all safety policies and processes are enforced.Make necessary recommendations to the Plant Manager for positive changes regarding personnel. Establish high morale throughout your staff by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems. Maintain confidentiality.Enforce corrective action procedures when applicable and conduct meetings as needed, including positive reinforcement and coaching.Maintain proper operation of the Injection Molding Department.Assist the Plant and General Manager in such a manner to fill the requirements of the customer and keep costs at a minimum level.Responsible for trouble shooting and general light maintenance work performed on the Injection Molding machines.Work with staff, upper management, and other leaders to develop and maintain methods of operation, including necessary departmental and essential training.Works with quality and production personnel to ensure assembled components meet requirements and adjustments as required. Performs part inspections and various other control functions to insure part conformity and quality.Generates documentation on changes that can be used to control traceability and ensure reproducibility.Maintain a regular presence in the works area to ensure compliance and discusses safety issues with team.  Adhere to lock-out tag-out policy and procedures.Other duties as assigned. 

What you need to succeed:

Completion of technical diploma from an accredited vocational/technical institute or equivalent work experience; 2-4 years of experience in Injection Molding. Minimum of an Associate’s degree preferred. Technical Knowledge Skills & Experience in Injection MoldingProduction supervision experience is required.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.Knowledge of safety  and quality practices and expectations.Ability to effectively communicate.Knowledge of OSHA requirements to include Machine Guarding and Lockout/Tagout Procedures.Knowledge of Safety ,5S, LEAN /TPS Toyota Production System a plus.Understanding standard work (SOP’s).Understands and follows Company’s quality and corporate/environmental policies.Understands and follows procedures and work instructions established by Smurfit Westrock - Vitop, USA.Visual skills for accessing functionality of equipment.Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of concrete variables.Ability to read and interpret drawings, ladder logic, blueprints.Good reading and math.Good computer skills (i.e., email, data entry).Good administrative skills (i.e., filing, organization).
