Production Supervisor

Overview of the role :

Reporting to the Production Manager, this role forms a key part of our leadership team. The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading our production employees and overseeing the day-to-day operations to ensure objectives are met for quality, safety, efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the processing and packaging of our products. The successful candidate will possess a high degree of initiative, is self-motivated, works well under pressure and is able to lead production employees. This position will be based out of our brand-new state-of-the art Port Coquitlam Facility.

Schedule: 2-week rotational shift

Week 1: Sunday –Wednesday (3:00pm - 1:00am)

Week 2: Sunday –Wednesday (3:00pm - 11:00pm) and Thursday (2:00pm-10:00pm)

Must be available to work shift work as the plant operates 24/7.

Salary: $78,170.00 - 97,715.00

How you will make contributions that matter:

Ensure the safe, efficient and effective use of manpower, equipment and material resourcesProvide leadership, direction, guidance, supervision, evaluation, motivation and training of production employeesSchedule equipment and employees to meet production requirements and deadlinesMaximize product quality and yieldsTake appropriate actions to ensure the health and safety of all workers under direct supervision, inform employees of safety hazards, consult with the joint committee and safety representative;Review and maintain the appropriate inventory and stock levelsEffectively use data daily to measure and communicate trends; reinforce positive results and initiate corrective actions as appropriatePrepare written communication including work procedures, notices, progress reportsEnsures that both Company and Governmental quality, sanitation and environmental standards are met working closely with Quality Assurance and Technical Services, ensure frequent review and successful implementation of Company and Governmental PoliciesWork closely with Maintenance to minimize downtime, ensure product safety and qualityAdminister the collective agreement, Company policies and standardsMaintain effective internal and external business relationships and other duties as required

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Food Sciences, Dairy Technology, Microbiology, Operations or Management or related field would be an assetDemonstrated leadership skills, preferably in a unionized environmentSuperior interpersonal and communication skills3 years’ progressive experience in a dairy or food manufacturing environmentProficient computer skills (Microsoft Office), analytical and organization skillsKnowledge of Dairy operations with particular emphasis on processing and sanitation preferred
