Production Specialist, Subsurface
Total Number of Openings 1 Chevron is accepting online applications for the position **Production Specialist-Subsurface located in Carlsbad, NM** through October 10th, 2025 at **11:59 p.m.** EST. This role supports field operations by assisting installation and repair crews with troubleshooting artificial lift production equipment, while also planning repairs and installations for both surface and subsurface systems. Responsibilities include drafting and overseeing permit-required work such as hot work and confined space entry. A key focus of the position is to support the Artificial Lift Specialist (ALS) in managing routine artificial lift activities in the field. Candidates applying for Production Specialist roles are expected to develop the competencies necessary to advance into either an ALS or Corrosion Representative position. **Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:** + Actively support Health, Environment, and Safety processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies, carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating practices as described in the MCBU Safe Practice Manual, maintaining a safe working environment, and being prepared to respond to an environmental or safety event. + Rigorous participation in JSA, PTW (Permit to Work) and SWA (Stop Work Authority). Must also adhere to the Pressure Pumping standards. + Works with Artificial Lift Specialist (ALS) to understand and manage rod pump, electric submersible, gas lift systems, and plunger lift systems. + Work closely with the ALS to plan work and supervise crews performing installation, repair and replacement of surface / subsurface equipment ensuring competency and work quality. + Serve as relief for the ALS + Will work on call rotation after hours week days and weekends + Works collaboratively with Field Specialists and Trainees to optimize artificial lift, including run times and cycle management. + Work closely with local regulatory agencies on compliance with annual Underground Injection Control testing. + Assist in the design and execution of any subsurface or chemical related activities; including chemical treatments, hot water treatments, and slickline jobs. + Perform data entry into CVX systems of record when applicable. + Develop and approved EIP’s associated with subsurface related activities. + Assure all work performed adheres to Chevron's Operational Excellence standards and regulatory requirements. **Required Qualifications:** + High School diploma or equivalent + At least two years current operations experience in oil and gas or related petrochemical industries, including experience with regulations and the maintenance and testing requirements associated with related safety devices. + Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), CMMS and the ability to understand new software packages. + Proficiency with artificial lift and field surveillance software systems (Rodstar, Centaur, Energy Components, Petrasoft, OSI Pi, Remote Desktop, EAM, and Power BI Dashboards). + Must obtain and maintain IADC Well Control Certification. + Must possess a valid driver's license. + Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime based on work activity. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Associates or bachelor’s degree of Applied Science in Petroleum Technology, Process Technology or related technology. + Four plus years current operations experience in oil and gas or related petrochemical industries, including experience with regulations and the maintenance and testing requirements associated with related safety devices. + Ability to interpret dynamometer cards and or production trend analysis where applicable. + In-depth understanding of injection and or producing well equipment. + In-depth understanding of corrosion monitoring and control and chemical treating programs. + Demonstrated ability to operate, maintain and optimize pump off controllers and or plunger lift controllers where applicable. + Advanced ability to conduct dynamometer analyses, fluid levels, and other onsite well diagnostics. + Demonstrated ability to analyze surface/subsurface problems and develop effective solutions. + Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize rod pump and electronic submersible pump systems. + Broad knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot and maintain major oil and gas production facility process systems including mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and production equipment. + Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers. + Ability to manage time effectively, and work with minimal supervision. **Relocation Options:** Relocation benefits will be considered. **International Considerations:** Expatriate assignments will **not be** considered.
