About Pearson

At Pearson, we’re committed to a world that’s always learning. We empower bold thinkers to explore new frontiers and create innovations that help learners everywhere. As a Data Analyst, you will learn by doing—contributing to the International Higher Education (IHE) team while building practical analytics, workflow, and collaboration skills.

Role Summary

The Data Analyst supports dashboards, reports, schedules, and data operations under guidance from experienced analysts and managers. You will help import data from approved systems, perform routine checks, maintain documentation, and assist with quality assurance while developing your skills in Microsoft 365 and Smartsheet.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with importing data from approved sources (e.g., PDH, OBIA/OBIEE) and help reconcile routine reports across geographies in Excel, PowerPoint, and Smartsheet.

Support teams in managing schedules, dashboards, and workflows; maintain tracker hygiene and status updates.

Create basic charts/graphs to compare plan, trend, and actual delivery durations; learn how to interpret deviations and flag risks.

Help prepare dashboards showing early/on‑time/delayed deliveries segmented by region; maintain refresh cadence.

Troubleshoot Smartsheet access issues following documented procedures; submit/track access requests and remove access when requested.

Perform data housekeeping (cleanup, deduplication) and support routine backups following team standards.

Update workflow/process documentation, including naming conventions and change logs.

Support quality assurance activities (spot checks, sample validation, link checks) under supervision.

Collaborate with business colleagues to understand reporting requirements; capture meeting notes and translate into task lists.

Contribute to developing new workflows and maintaining existing ones; draft step‑by‑step guides with screenshots where helpful.

For Smartsheet onboarding, we’ll embed best practices (access control, automation, backups, documentation) from the internal guidance page to support the new hire’s ramp‑up.

Learning & Development

Structured onboarding to Pearson collaboration, workflow, data, and document management best practices.

On‑the‑job mentorship from analysts and managers; regular feedback on tasks and deliverables.

Smartsheet training covering access control, automation, dashboards, and backup procedures.

Exposure to cross‑functional teams (Portfolio, Production, PSG, Marketing) and international stakeholders.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in or recently completed a diploma/degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience). (Scaled from the original “Bachelor’s preferred”.)

Foundational analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to break down ambiguous problems into steps.

Strong organization and time management; comfortable in a fast‑paced, distributed environment.

Clear written and verbal communication; attention to detail.

Basic experience with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint).

Familiarity with Smartsheet or similar project/worksheet tools is an asset (training provided).

Desired Skills (Nice to Have)

Excel (lookups, pivots, charts) and comfort with data import/cleanup routines.

Exposure to requirements analysis or documenting business processes.

Awareness of MS Project and collaboration via Microsoft Teams.

Schedule & Location

Schedule: Full‑time, aligned to standard business hours. To collaborate across time zones, occasional early meetings (from ~07:15) or late calls (to ~20:00) may be required.

Location: Hybrid (remote + office) with in‑office activities as required. (India)
