Job Profile Summary Responsible for managing or performing work associated with converting raw materials and components into finished goods including: • General production manufacturing work • Assembling finished components or parts into finished products • Process manufacturing batches of bulk materials/ingredients including mechanical processing (e.g., mixing, grinding, separating, filtering, etc.) and chemical processing (altering the chemical properties of materials through chemical reactions and changing temperature, pressure, etc.) • Setting up and operating machine tools to convert materials into parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies • Surface finishing of parts, components, and assembled items including washing/painting/plating/anti-corrosion coating, hardening, polishing/engraving/etching, etc. • Packaging materials or finished goods into containers for the purpose of protection, display, and handling

JOB SUMMARY
The Production Manager is responsible for managing production and directing operations including but not limited to safety, food safety and quality, product receiving, product replenishment, order processing, order loading, expense and capital management, morale, employee engagement, revenue management and adherence to company policies and government regulations while ensuring superior customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the daily workload and safety of Production Supervisors and associatesDevelop and maintain production plans to ensure orders are completed on timeDetermine the headcount requirements and labor utilization needed to achieve production and business goalsSchedule equipment and team resources needed to support each production planTrack component yield rates ensuring that actual results meet or exceed business goalsManage work order maintenance ensuring that work orders are audited and closed inappropriate fiscal periodsSet performance metrics for each department to track and monitor productivityReview and set priorities to ensure orders are correct, complete and leave on time to ensure excellent customer serviceManage the proper selection, purchase, and utilization of Company assets in support of operationsCoordinate with other departments as necessary to ensure upgrades and repairs are completed efficiently and effectivelyProactively look ahead to meet/exceed anticipated workloadsEstablish and implement processes and systems to efficiently meet inventory management goals and work with the Regional Director to help improve service levels for the facility, region, and the companySuggest efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assist with the implementation of changes with inbound and outbound warehouse operationsIdentify problems and propose solutions to other members of management and promote cooperation with other departmentsEnsure day-to-day management and associate activities are in alignment with a safety strategyMaintain a safe and healthy work environmentAssure that department expenses are in line with budget goalsDirect, coordinate and monitor the daily activities & performance of Operations team to assure compliance of standard Company policies, procedures, quality, and safetyCoach and develop a team in balancing the delivery of high productivity, quality and customer serviceMaintain a positive and safe work environmentOversee employee relations and participate in staff selection, performance and compensation evaluations, corrective action and terminations, as necessaryEstablish performance goals, monitor progress and provide feedback as necessaryManage employee performance through motivation, delegation, development, mentoring and resolving conflictTake corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policyProvide and/or coordinate training as neededConsult with Human Resources Department as appropriateConduct regular department meetings to foster employee engagement, communicate any changes to company policies and procedures, address employee concerns, foster idea-sharing and suggestions for improvementOrder/procure materials and services as neededServe as key IT, telecom and systems contact for the business unitIdentify and implement key areas for improvement in each departmentMaintain a presence and availability across all shiftsProvide and maintain a safe work environment by directing safety training, generating and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)Coordinate emergency response or crisis management activitiesCoordinate efforts with the Safety Department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, updating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes and routine safety inspections

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) requiredBachelor of Science in Business Management preferred or 10+ years of equivalent experience and education

Experience
7+ years of related management experience in a leadership role within a food production, manufacturing environmentMust be familiar with OSHA, HACCP, GMP and USDA regulations

SKILLS:

The noise level in the work environment is moderate and the environment fast-paced
Travel (approx. 10%) may be required to visit other Sysco locations, customer meetings, company events, staff meetings, training sessions, and/or industry or vendor trade shows
May be required to utilize personal vehicle for business travel that may result in long periods of sitting
Must maintain a valid driver's license and provide proof of current automobile insurance coverage as set forth by Sysco
This position may require evening, weekend or other shift work depending on business needs
