The production operator in the shipping is responsible for duties related to storing, moving, and managing of goods and materials. Maintaining excellent service by following organization standards of quality, and production standards of material handling best-practices.Essential Duties:
Operate forklift safely and merchandise management tools as required.
Prepare all orders for shipment.
Box, wrap and pack merchandise in accordance with relevant procedures and standards as well as any special instructions if required.
Handle incoming merchandise in accordance with relevant procedures and standards as well as any special instructions if required.
Prepare all merchandise for placement.
Maintain inventory levels as required by workflow.
Record and manage all impaired or damaged merchandise items.
Enter data inventory and logistics software program as needed.
Document materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units.
Follow all safety protocols for the plant, forklift, etc.
Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections, making operator repairs.
Maintain compliance with all Marmon IEI Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
Support and participate in Lean/5S and process improvement initiatives as needed.
Support activities within compliance to ISO Quality System procedures.
Work as a team with peers, supervisors, managers and Marmon IEI employees.
Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc., as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Preferred:
Forklift certification and material handling experience strongly desired.
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
High School Diploma/GED is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
Ability to operate forklift type equipment safely.
Ability to read and write clearly.
Ability to organize works tasks efficiently.
Ability to communicate with all levels of employees.
Must be able to multi-task, follow priorities given, and have strong troubleshooting techniques.
Self-starter; ability to work with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that can be noisy.
Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE.
Ability to work long hours while standing or operating/driving equipment and/or machinery.
Ability to work in high temperatures.
Ability to move objects and materials of at least 50lbs.
