Job Summary

The Production Machine Feeder in the semi-automated department is responsible for the daily setup and operation of the processing equipment at the Natural Grocers Distribution Center. The Machine Feeder position is a team-based, fast paced and physically demanding role, and is critical to the success of the packaging operation. This position is responsible for maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices, housekeeping, and applicable food safety documentation.

Verify daily schedule with production leadPerform daily setup, operation, and breakdown of processing equipmentAssist with staging product and packaging materials and other supplies for the shiftEnsure accuracy and quantity of staged raw material prior to opening containersInspect raw material during the preparation process and report quality concerns to QALoad product into machines and maintain flow of material to weigh stationsMaintain complete and accurate records of raw materials entering productionAssist with packing product as neededMaintain the segregation of allergen, non-allergen, organic and non-organic productsLead quick and efficient changeovers to minimize down timeComplete necessary documentation for changeovers, cleaning, and product specsFollow all SSOP’s and HACCP standards.Perform all tasks in a manner that promotes safety

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

Previous experience in food manufacturing environment preferredHigh School diploma or equivalent education is requiredAbility to follow written and verbal instructions as providedKnowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in food production preferredMust become familiar with allergen categories and required segregation and cleaning for allergens and organic productsGood attention to detail; communication, accuracy and thoroughness a mustExposure to 5s and Lean manufacturing methodologies a plusAbility to work with others in a fast-paced team environment Must be reliable and on time every dayAble to work in seasonally warm or cool environment

 

Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs.; repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs.Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs.Requires the use of both arms and both hands with full range of motion.Must be able to bend at the waist and knees, twist, push and pull on occasional basisMust be able to kneel, squat, and climb as neededMust be able to climb stairsMust be able to reach overhead and away from the bodyMust be able to stand for at least 90% of the time Must be able to walk for at least 90% of the time
