The Opportunity

The position of Production Lab Technician works out of our San Diego, CA location in our diagnostics division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision-making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.

2nd Shift: 2:00pm-10:30pm

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operate laboratory equipment safely, as trained and directed, in accordance with established practicesPerform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairObtain and stock laboratory supplies as directedMaintain records as directed in an accurate and thorough mannerClean laboratory area, equipment and glassware as necessaryCarry out functions which may require multiple task coordinationUnderstands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activitiesResponsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationshipsCarries out duties in compliance with established business policiesOther duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent experience0- 2 years’ experience in a lab environmentBasic verbal and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of federal and other regulations, e.g. QSR's, ISO, ISO 13485, CMDRExperience working with semi-automated equipmentBasic knowledge of a variety of lab equipment and their operationBasic knowledge of MS Office and manufacturing systemsAbility to follow detailed instructions, maintains accurate records and notes, and carry out assignments in a thorough, conscientious fashion while adhering to safe laboratory practices

The base pay for this position is $17.25 – $34.45 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
