**Job Description**
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented **Production Expeditor** to join our scheduling team in this essential support role. You will coordinate and expedite the flow of materials, parts, and information across departments to deliver accurate, reliable ship dates to customers.
Your primary focus will be identifying and resolving information and material bottlenecks, maintaining consistent on-time delivery performance, and supporting production schedules in our fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment.
As the central liaison, you will collaborate closely with production planning, purchasing, machining, assembly, testing, quality control, shipping, and occasionally external suppliers—ensuring seamless workflows, swiftly addressing issues, and driving operational efficiency.
**Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ **Facilitate** the Ship Date Request (SDR) system, ensuring cross-functional accountability between Logistics and Scheduling for timely responses.
+ **Analyze** daily urgent requests to proactively mitigate potential production delays or material constraints.
+ **Optimize** the flow of materials and information to accelerate lead times and order fulfillment.
+ **Partner** with Sales to develop strategic alternatives and recovery plans during material shortages.
+ **Conduct** daily floor audits to monitor critical job progress, resolve bottlenecks, and re-align department priorities with customer milestones.
+ **Monitor and escalate** at-risk procurement items in collaboration with Material Planners to prevent schedule slips.
+ **Liaise** with Quality Assurance and Shipping to streamline inspections and guarantee on-time delivery.
+ **Drive** continuous improvement by identifying recurring operational bottlenecks and implementing process enhancements.
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Ability to walk/stand for extended periods on the production floor.
+ Frequent movement between departments in a noisy, industrial manufacturing setting.
+ Occasional lifting of light to moderate parts and materials (up to 40 lbs).
+ Safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, and other PPE required at all times on the shop floor.
**Qualifications**
+ High school diploma or GED; Associate’s degree or technical certificate in manufacturing/operations preferred.
+ 2–5+ years of experience in a manufacturing production support role (expediting, production control, material coordination, or shop floor scheduling).
+ Experience in a precision metalworking or industrial manufacturing environment
+ Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, interrupt-driven environment.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable interfacing with all levels from shop floor to management.
+ Proficient with ERP/MRP systems for production tracking and reporting.
+ Ability to read and interpret basic production routers, drawings, and schedules.
+ Detail-oriented with strong follow-through; able to track multiple jobs simultaneously.
**Additional Information**
_The pay range for this position is $22-$27 per hour, based on experience._
