The Production Engineer plays a critical role in bridging product design and manufacturing execution. This position is responsible for ensuring that new and existing products are designed and assembled with optimal efficiency, safety, and quality. The Production Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Design, Quality, Safety, and Manufacturing—to review product designs, develop assembly processes and tooling, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the production lifecycle.
This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, hands-on experience with manufacturing processes, and the ability to translate complex designs into scalable, operator-friendly assembly workflows. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about driving innovation in manufacturing environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Review new product designs early in the design phase, conduct Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews, and implement best practices for manufacturability. Review assembly structures and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy and completeness Develop assembly fixtures and tools to support both new product introduction (NPI) and full-scale production, utilizing GD&T when required. Coordinate with Safety team to ensure automated fixtures are safe for operator use, following OSHA and other safety standards. Develop product assembly procedures, creating Work Instructions and Packaging Instructions for new products. Coordinate with Production team to ensure operators are appropriately trained on new assembly processes and tools, and that support is provided to resolve design-related assembly issues. Work with Quality Engineering teams to resolve material issues affecting product assembly. Initiate and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs). Review Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for completeness and feasibility, and update assembly processes and tools to facilitate released ECNs. Generate and approve deviation notices (DVNs) to facilitate continued production pending design changes. Interact with CMs to ensure product and assembly compliance with company standards.% Innovate new methods and processes to enhance both departmental and manufacturing efficiency, utilizing Microsoft Power Platform depending on background. Bachelor of Science: Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred Associate’s, minor, or certification Computer Science Required 5+ Years Electronics Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, or Closely Related Field Knowledge of manufacturing processes for cast metal parts, plastic injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal stamping, and extruded profiles is preferred; roller shade and drapery assembly knowledge is a plus. Experience working with PCBA and finished good electronic assemblies Working knowledge of DFM/DFA concepts in electronic product design. Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma concepts (FMEA, GR&R, etc.) is preferred; Green Belt certification is a plus. Proficiency in Utilizing PTC Creo\ProE or equivalent 3D CAD system to design parts/assemblies and conduct analysis. Experience integrating pneumatic/electrical power and PLC automation into assembly tools is a plus. Experience using ERP systems (SAP) and PLM/PDM systems (Windchill) is a plus Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Applications Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI) is a plus Strong technical skills, hands-on, detail-oriented with excellent communication abilities.
