Production Control Manager

Role Description:

To provide plant level leadership for the production planning process and controls.  This position works closely with the local operations team to deliver finished product to the customers operation as expected.

 

The Production Control position reports directly to the Assistant Plant Manager and has supervision responsibilities internally. Furthermore, this position will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Division Production Control group.

Responsible for providing production planning leadership and support for the manufacturing facility. Provide planning, instruction, and communication as required to the staff, supervisors, and hourly associates, to meet customer supply expectations. Examples of areas of accountability are: Production planning and logistics, operations material supplies, product inventory controls, shipment scheduling in order to ensure customer delivery schedules are met. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Schedule production lines at the location facility using the Ardagh Metal Packaging Production System. Utilize production system tools to plan, check consumption order, and maintain accurate production records. Schedule and manage the shipping schedule for both inbound and outbound activity. Maintain appropriate levels of internal supplies such as coils, shipping and production materials. Contact vendors as necessary. Ensure all company production control procedures are in place and audit as necessary. Take corrective action. Work closely with the plant management, sales, customer service, and the customer (where appropriate) to coordinate changes, conduct trials, etc. Ensure all appropriate hourly associates are adequately trained in all required safe operation  equipment procedures and use of systems. Identify and resolve daily production and material issues to meet delivery deadlines. Optimize/reduce logistic costs. Monitor slow moving raw and finish goods. Reduce levels whenever possible. Establish job performance goals and provide feedback to subordinates. Coordinate all inbound/outbound movements at the outside warehouse locations. Supervise hourly associates as assigned by plant management.  Develop and communicate facility production/shipping delivery metrics, measure improvement. Complete projects as assigned.

 

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree.   A strong analytical/ computer software usage aptitude.   Some experience in a variety of manufacturing/production related roles would be preferred. Previous experience within the Can manufacturing industry is a definite advantage. Production and Processing- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Knowledge of Continuous Improvement processes to improve reporting/analysis. Strong bias to meet the ever changing demands of the customer, while minimizing cost to the operation. Outstanding written and verbal communication capabilities.
