We are seeking a PAR Consultant / Solution Architect with 5+ years of experience in production accounting, reconciliation, and/or energy operations analytics to lead the design and delivery of PAR solutions for a large enterprise environment. The role focuses on turning raw operational data (flows, inventories, tickets, and quality) into reconciled, auditable results and actionable exceptions.
You will work in a structured, phased delivery model (assessment → design → pilot → rollout), collaborating closely with the Project Manager, business stakeholders (Operations, Lab, Maintenance, Finance), and technical teams (historians, integration, data platform). This role is client-facing and requires strong consulting discipline, the ability to facilitate workshops, translate business objectives into measurable reconciliation boundaries and workflows, and drive outcomes such as lower unaccounted loss and faster close.
1) PAR Solution Architecture & Design
. Own the end-to-end PAR solution design aligned to the client's operational landscape and systems of record.
. Define balance boundaries (e.g., unit, tank farm, utilities, terminals) and reconciliation objectives, including required accuracy, latency, and audit expectations.
. Produce high-quality consulting deliverables (HLD/LLD, boundary definitions, reconciliation approach, workflow design, interface specifications, test strategy, cutover plan, and operational runbooks).
. Design end-to-end automated flows: data readiness checks → reconciliation runs → prioritized exceptions → adjustments with reason codes → approvals/locking → publish reconciled results and KPIs.
2) Discovery, Assessment & Requirements Workshops
. Lead kickoff and discovery workshops with Operations, Lab (LIMS), Maintenance/EAM, Terminal/Ticketing, and Finance stakeholders to clarify objectives, scope, and success criteria.
. Assess current pain points such as incomplete/late/inconsistent data, Excel ‘last mile' processes, noisy exception workflows, and slow close cycles.
. Document and validate measurement sources and inputs: historian tags (flows/levels), tank gauging and inventory, custody transfer tickets/movements, quality (density/composition), and meter metadata (uncertainty/calibration).
. Define a clear ‘definition of done' for close, including roles, approvals, controls, and audit trail needs.
3) Reconciliation Configuration & Model Governance
. Configure and tune statistical reconciliation (uncertainty-based), including gross error detection, missing movements, and versioning of runs.
. Establish an adjustment model with reason codes, approval workflows, and auditable sign-off/locking.
. Define and implement master data governance practices (stream/product codes, meter uncertainty/calibration, boundary definitions, configuration management, and controlled change).
. Reduce reliance on ‘power users' by creating documentation, playbooks, and maintainable model structures.
4) Data Integration & Readiness (Upstream/Downstream Interfaces)
. Design/build or modernize interfaces with systems of record and source systems (e.g., historian, tank gauging, LIMS, ticketing/terminal systems, EAM/work orders, reporting/data platforms).
. Implement data readiness checks and automated completeness validation; create data quality dashboards and exception signals for late or inconsistent inputs.
. Enable event-driven triggers (e.g., late tickets trigger re-run) and reliable downstream publishing of reconciled results and KPIs.
. Partner with data/integration teams on ETL patterns, scheduling, security/access, and operational support models.
5) Exception Workflow, Prioritization & Operational Adoption
. Design an exception taxonomy and queue aligned to operational realities (imbalances, bad meters, quality timing issues, time alignment/tag mapping issues).
. Implement prioritization/scoring based on severity, value impact, and recurrence; optimize routing, SLAs, and ownership across Ops/Lab/Maintenance/Accounting.
. Establish playbooks and trend reporting for repeat offenders (meters/tanks/streams) and link outcomes to maintenance/process improvements.
. Drive measurable reductions in manual touches (re-keying, spreadsheet handoffs, email approvals).
6) Pilot Execution, Sprint Delivery & Rollout
. Plan and govern a controlled pilot: scope, data readiness gates, success metrics, feedback loop, and release cadence.
. Lead working sessions to validate input availability and reconciliation boundaries; stand up collaboration environments and delivery rituals.
. Support rollout in waves, ensuring readiness, minimal business disruption, and strong change management.
. Contribute to SOW scope definition, timeline, and team sizing; support transition to steady-state operations and continuous improvement.
7) Training, Enablement & Continuous Improvement
. Enable user adoption through role-based training (operators, accountants, engineers) and clear guidance on adjustments, approvals, and close steps.
. Define operational reporting (unaccounted loss, close cycle time, exception backlog, meter reliability KPIs) and governance cadence.
. Lead aftercare and optimization post go-live: refine models, thresholds, workflow rules, and publishing; expand automation safely.
. 5+ years of experience in Production Accounting, Reconciliation, Hydrocarbon Accounting, and/or Energy operations analytics (refining, terminals, petrochemicals, upstream, or midstream).
. Hands-on experience implementing or supporting PAR platforms (Honeywell PAR, AVEVA PAR, Pimsoft Sigmafine, or equivalent), including configuration, model maintenance, and troubleshooting.
. Strong understanding of mass/volume balance concepts, statistical reconciliation (uncertainty-based), gross error detection, and handling missing/late movements.
. Experience integrating operational systems and data sources (historians, tank gauging, ticketing/custody transfer, LIMS quality, and master data).
. Strong consulting delivery skills: workshop facilitation, structured documentation, executive-ready communication, and stakeholder management across IT and operations.
. Ability to work in agile/sprint delivery models and produce high-quality client deliverables (requirements, designs, test plans, cutover, runbooks).
Strong Advantage (Preferred)
. Experience with PI System (or similar historian), SQL, and data integration/ETL tooling; familiarity with Power BI or data lake reporting patterns.
. Experience designing exception management workflows and operational governance (SLAs, ownership models, audit trails).
. Knowledge of measurement management (meter uncertainty, calibration, proving) and custody transfer practices.
. Experience improving close SOPs, controls, and audit readiness in regulated or high-compliance environments.
. Prior consulting experience in Oil & Gas / Energy with large enterprise stakeholders; ability to operate as a trusted advisor.
Success Profile at CGI
. Client-first mindset with the ability to operate as a trusted advisor across Operations, Finance, and IT.
. Pragmatic, value-focused approach: reduces unaccounted loss, accelerates close cycles, and improves data reliability without disrupting operations.
. Strong ownership and collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams (PAR SMEs, integration, data platform, and client stakeholders).
. High standards of consulting professionalism: clear methods, repeatable artifacts, and measurable outcomes.
. Continuous improvement orientation: uses telemetry, exceptions, and feedback loops to improve reconciliation quality and operational adoption.
Note: This role may require occasional travel to client sites and participation in cross-time-zone delivery teams, depending on project needs.
