The food safety and quality advisor role is an incredible opportunity for an entry-level career food safety and quality professional to support supply quality and product safety initiatives with our food and beverage categories. You will collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and suppliers to support the implementation of Food Safety and Quality programs, ensuring the delivery of safe, wholesome, and premium quality products to our customers. You will uphold a legacy of world-class food safety and quality performance by managing quality signals, supporting cross-functional teams to address product incidents, and executing supply base management processes.

As a food safety & quality advisor – Food & Beverage, you will…

Work collaboratively across the organization and suppliers to support the execution of food safety and quality programs.

Monitor customer and partner complaints, routinely summarizing data and reporting issues.

Apply technical knowledge to root cause and problem solve complex issues (i.e. testing, supplier and product assessments, documentation)

Proactively analyze product safety and quality signals, metrics, audit data, customer complaints, regulatory and social media inputs.

Identify trends, lead investigations, and drive resolution of product related concerns from regulators, retail stores, regional partners, and/or internal and external customers.

We’d love to hear from people with:

Strong food safety and quality experience in food and beverage manufacturing settings including plant experience (2-3 years minimum)

Experience in food technology, food science, manufacturing, equipment, quality assurance, microbiology, food safety or product development (2 years)

Food safety certifications, such as safe food handling, sanitation, PCQI, HACCP, etc

Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP principles

4-year degree preferred, General Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, Environmental Public Health or Food Science

Skills:

Ability to prepare clear and concise verbal, written, and visual presentations for managers and cross-functional peers.

Experience in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Smartsheet, OPM (Oracle Process Manufacturing)

Ability to think creatively and balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Ability to organize collection of data, analyze qualitatively and quantitatively and capture conclusions.

Ability to stay organized while working independently and meet deadlines in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment. 

Understands partnership culture with ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally

If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.  For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
