Product Owner - Predictive Maintenance and Asset Optimization

As part of the global Digital Manufacturing MSAT & Engineering team, reporting to the Digital Global Engineering Product Line Owner, the Product Owner for Predictive Maintenance & Asset Management is responsible for delivering digital solutions that optimize equipment performance, reduce unplanned downtime, and maximize asset value throughout their lifecycle. This role focuses on developing and enhancing products that help determine the condition of in-service equipment to optimize maintenance activities, leading to cost savings over routine or time-based preventive maintenance. Asset Management leads to enhances efficiency, safety, and quality in production processes while ensuring compliance with GxP regulations and Sanofi's quality standards. This role will directly contribute to Sanofi's operational excellence by reducing manufacturing downtime, enhancing worker safety, and accelerating time-to-market through innovative solutions.

Main responsibilities

 

Asset Lifecycle Management

In partnership with Global Engineering and other stakeholders, define the asset management strategy from acquisition through decommissioning

Predictive Analytics & Maintenance Strategy

Define user stories and requirements for predictive maintenance algorithms and models

Work with data scientists, engineers, and external vendors to implement condition-based monitoring solutions to address specific needs of the business

Prioritize features that enable early detection of equipment failures and performance degradation

Develop KPIs and metrics to measure maintenance effectiveness and cost savings

Manufacturing & Operations Integration

Collaborate closely with Global Engineering, manufacturing sites, maintenance teams, and operations personnel

Understand equipment criticality and maintenance requirements across different asset types

Ensure solutions comply with GxP, regulatory, and quality requirements specific to pharmaceutical manufacturing

Define requirements for integration with existing maintenance management systems (CMMS/EAM)

Data Management & Analytics

Define requirements for IoT sensor data collection, storage, and processing

Work with data teams to ensure data quality and availability for predictive models

Prioritize features for real-time monitoring dashboards and alerting systems

Ensure data governance and compliance with data privacy regulations

Business Value & Cost Optimization

Define and track KPIs related to:

Reduction in unplanned downtime

Maintenance cost optimization

Asset utilization improvements

Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) improvements

Develop business cases for predictive maintenance initiatives

Measure and report on ROI of predictive maintenance investments

Stakeholder Management

Facilitate workshops to understand maintenance pain points and requirements

Work closely with:

Digital (IT) infrastructure and OT (Operational Technology) teams

Manufacturing operations teams

Reliability engineers

Plant maintenance managers and technicians

Finance teams for budget and cost tracking

About you

Minimum Experience & Knowledge Required

This specialized Product Owner role requires a unique blend of digital product management skills with deep understanding of industrial operations, maintenance practices, and the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The focus should be on delivering tangible business value through improved asset performance and optimized maintenance strategies.

 

1.     Technical Understanding

Understanding of maintenance strategies (reactive, preventive, predictive, prescriptive)

Familiarity with IoT sensors, SCADA systems, and industrial data protocols

Knowledge of industrial equipment and manufacturing processes

Basic understanding of machine learning and predictive analytics concepts

2.    Industry Knowledge

Familiarity with reliability engineering concepts (Ex. RCM, FMEA)

Knowledge of maintenance best practices and industry standards

Understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing requirements and GxP compliance

Understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for industrial assets

3.    Regulatory & Compliance

Ensure solutions meet pharmaceutical regulatory requirements

Understanding of data integrity requirements for manufacturing data

Knowledge of cybersecurity requirements for OT/IT convergence

Compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Information Technology or Engineering

 

Languages

Fluent spoken and written English
