As the Controls Product Owner, you will lead an agile firmware development team in implementing ongoing feature development and maintenance to Trane’s existing Smart Thermostat line. The successful candidate for this role will have demonstrated the ability to lead an agile development team to consistently deliver the most value given the resources, feature requests, and constraints.

 

The Product Owner will define and lead software development sprints, prioritize bugs and feature requests, create user stories as needed, and drive team goals through prioritization. You will work closely with various stakeholders (Product Management, Support, subject matter experts, etc.) to understand the product roadmap, incoming support requests, and existing state of the firmware, to make informed decisions on the best use of the team’s time to deliver value to our customers.

Where is the work:

Due to the nature of this role, this position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.

 

What you will do:

Provide full accountability and transparency for delivery and success of the assigned productProvide effective leadership to an offshore development team including creating user stories and acceptance criteria, planning sprints, selecting individual stories to go into any given sprint, managing backlog, organizing stories into customer releases, and making final determinations of whether any given piece of work is completeWork closely in a “hands-on” style with development team including addressing daily prioritization needs, providing real-time feedback and answering questions on an ongoing basisCollaborate with other leadership team members and stakeholders to align on strategy and execution path to most effectively deliver resultsProvide updates, information and demos of product features and progress against timelines to stakeholders including business leadership and external partners/vendorsEffectively collaborate with other engineering groups within the business unit to coordinate integrated software / firmware / hardware releases.

 

What you will bring:

Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics fields.Agile product ownership experience.3+ years of experience as hands-on business analyst, product owner, or product manager of consumer facing software based solutions.3+ years of experience in HVAC or similar controls or IoT based platform with digital customer interface.Experience leading or collaborating with remote teams (including international).Demonstrated success working with engineering teams to plan, develop, refine, and launch successful software products.Ability to research and explore product and feature opportunities and user experience improvement.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Able to quickly adapt to change and navigate ambiguous problem spaces.Self-starter and ability to work with little instructions and collaborate with diverse teams.Familiarity with Confluence, JIRA, or similar task tracking software.

 

Compensation: 

Base Salary: $117,450 - $156,000

Additional Compensation: Total compensation for this role also will include an incentive plan.
