Product Manager - Tech, Amazon Travel and Events
Amazon.com
Amazon's travel, events, and expense programmes serve employees at an unprecedented scale, with a mission to deliver an employee-centric experience that lets them be more productive, while also helping to manage costs, safety, and sustainability. Today that experience is fragmented across too many systems, partners, and manual processes. We're hiring a Senior Product Manager - Technical to own the product strategy that consolidates these into a unified platform, dramatically reducing cost-to-serve while delivering a self-service experience employees prefer over the alternatives.
You'll partner with engineering, science, and design teams alongside third-party partners to deliver intelligent automation, personalized experiences, and modern customer service capabilities. AI-powered intelligent personalization and automation are tools in your toolkit, not the job description itself. You should be energized by applying them to genuinely eliminate friction, not just modernize the wrapper around legacy processes. This requires someone who takes ownership of ambiguous problems, makes hard build-vs-buy calls, and delivers measurable results at pace.
Key job responsibilities
- Define product requirements for self-service capabilities that reduce support contacts, eliminate manual work, and cut expense processing time.
- Evaluate and apply emerging AI capabilities for knowledge orchestration, intelligent routing, and agentic automation, to deliver measurable product improvements.
- Collaborate with technical programme managers and engineering teams to translate product vision into high-quality technical solutions
- Drive the product strategy for shifting from fragmented third-party dependencies to first-party platform ownership, informing build-vs-buy decisions that permanently restructure the cost base
- Lead and develop a team of product managers and analysts; hire bar-raising talent
- Influence cross-functional global teams across finance, HR, and workplace technology to resolve dependencies and deliver shared outcomes
- Partner with customer services teams to set new program-level success metrics (adoption, cost-to-serve, customer satisfaction) and use data to drive prioritization
- Write compelling narratives, strategy documents, and business cases to contribute to executive alignment, investment, and cross-organizational resourcing for transformation initiatives
A day in the life
Start with a backlog review with your team, sharpening acceptance criteria for a self-service workflow that eliminates a manual handoff. Move to a design sprint with engineers where you're debating trade-offs between two integration approaches and deciding which to prototype first. Progress with synthesizing customer feedback into a revised requirements doc, then pressure-testing priorities with an existing third-party partner. End the day with a quick check on adoption metrics from last month's release, turning what you learn into next sprint's input. You build first, then let the data tell you what to build next.
