What you'll do We are looking for a technically focused Product leader to join the Viasat Government team. In this role you will shape the direction and drive ongoing success of our portfolio, exploring ways to evolve, transform and future proof current products in line with the Next Gen Multi-Orbit Satellite strategy. The ideal candidate will have experience managing new and existing products, experience leading both product and engineering teams, and an affinity for technical challenges, strong collaboration and influence skills, as well as a strong track record of delivering results. The day-to-day Lead on the development of new and existing products across Land, Maritime & Aero domains, defining project scope, key deliverables, workstreams and milestones. Interact with partners, customers and prospects to define market requirements, and translate these into market requirements (MRDs) that Engineering teams can then use to drive the technical solution. Conduct competitive analysis, market segmentation & use case analysis to shape offering. Be responsible for the product vision and evangelize it throughout the organization – clearly articulate and justify the WHAT and WHY of any product effort. Develop and iterate Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) in conjunction with market requirements. Act as the product development interface into central Engineering teams, ensuring that technical requirements are fully understood and included in the end state product. Own product business cases, advocating for funding and resourcing for the product to realize value. Bring the "voice of the customer" to the product by working closely with internal product teams, sales, marketing, customer success, operations, and users to prioritize feasibility, viability, and desirability of requirements. Manage product roadmaps that outline the overall strategy. Be data-driven and focus on customer insights to develop product features and own Product Life-Cycle through maturity. Lead the go-to-market process, supporting enablement, launch & feedback loops. Present periodically to senior executives at the corporation on the continuous evolution of product portfolio. What you'll need 7+ years managing one or more products or experience like the above essential functions 5+ years managing engineering teams within a product development organization Demonstrable experience working with global matrix managed environment Highly motivated self-starter with strong collaboration, and communications skills Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic Experience working with Agile & Waterfall Framework development teams Demonstrable experience influencing and leading cross functional teams to drive and deliver business cases to introduce and launch product capabilities Fast learner and comfortable with technical details. You have credibility with the engineering community about technical trade-offs, scalability, and performance Demonstrable experience understanding of customer focused design thinking process Are productive. You know how to identify the most important issues, prioritize your time, and deliver results consistently Passionate about solving problems for customers and can define compelling products that address those needs Experience with executive stakeholder management Bachelor’s degree, CS degree or equivalent experience is preferred (MBA / master’s degree a plus) What will help you on the job Experience working with and delivering services and projects related to managed services, software development and/or network infrastructure. Experience leading product transformation. Experience in Satellite Communications industry.
