Product Manager supporting Schwab Asset Management (SAM) platforms and products as part of the Asset Management Infrastructure (AMI) product team. SAM is the asset management arm of the Charles Schwab Corporation, having ~ $1.7 Trillion under management in mutual funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts. Products managed include a wide variety of active and indexed equity, fixed income, multi-asset, asset allocation strategies, and money markets funds.
This digital product team focuses entirely on separately managed accounts (SMAs) supporting new product launches and software integration efforts critical to multiple business teams including Operations, Trading, Portfolio Management, and Performance. Partnering with technology, you will work closely with business teams among a peer group of Product Managers and Product Owners to lead implementation of key functionalities. This role will be instrumental in designing and developing automated solutions to streamline account management workflows.
Key responsibilites for this role include, but are not limited to:
Defining a product roadmap with product goals, features, and phased delivery.Managing a product backlog by creating and sequencing initiatives, epics, and user stories which define business value and acceptance criteria.Prioritizing work based on changing resources, evolving product needs, and business deadlines.Overseeing feature development.Serving as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the development team to ensure product requirements are accurately defined and major decisions agreed uponAdvocating and representing business stakeholder needs in all work efforts.Facilitating sprint review sessions with business stakeholders to showcase development efforts.Owning reporting to multiple stakeholders and domains by estimating work effort of product roadmap, surfacing risks and dependencies, and reporting regularly on development progress versus the aggregate work effort.Working cross-functionally with peer product owners to coordinate inter-team dependenciesAssisting and/or leading cross-domain efforts outside a development team that help continuously build and manage a product.Becoming an expert in the needs, expectations, and pain points of managed investing and the associated platforms. Ability to assess the competitive environment, industry trends, current strengths and gaps.What you haveRequired Qualifications:
5-7+ years of Product Owner or Product Management experience Experience in the asset management industry and/or separately management account (SMA) experience requiredPreferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Schwab’s and/or other managed platforms within the managed investing space is strongly preferred. Execution skills:Ability to think and plan strategically while simultaneously digging into short-term deliverables.Proactive mindset and demonstrated initiative in gathering insights, understanding business priorities, and driving solutions.Experience working with technology partners to create technological solutions based on business requirements.Experience working with third-party vendors and overseeing integrations preferred.Accountability mindset around ownership of work with determination to overcome obstacles and find creative solutions.Relationship building skills and outstanding written & verbal communication skills: Proven ability to create and leverage internal networks to drive platform initiatives.Ability to cogently summarize high level concepts to business leadership and nuanced. technical detail to developers.Connect personally and professionally.Practice active listening while also able to bring stakeholders to decisions.Proven record of being a strong business advocate for stakeholder needs.Strong collaboration skills to be a team player who enables others to achieve success collectively.Adaptability and context switching skills:Ability to thrive and prioritize in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, directing multiple projects at the same time.
