1. Work with limited supervision and make routine and non-routine choices within daily duties in the processes and procedures of product engineering. Draft solid models and prints based on the design drawing or rough drafted products. Ensure all components of the product are itemized while ensuring cost efficiency. Send specifications to purchasing engineer if needed. Research the product margins of a product and present cost saving concepts and ideas to management. Initiate the Engineering Introduction Order (EIO). Attend and assist at all rough mock ups, first construction sessions of product. Ensure they are compliant with fabrication and assembly prints and construction standards and make changes if necessary. Manage the engineering process throughout the product’s lifecycle. Perform intermediate troubleshooting or analysis of product design or engineering problems that require the interpretation of indicators that reveal fabrication or assembly concerns for the building of furniture.
2. Create all MRP data in Infor software. Manage all revisions that take place on product through workflow tools and the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process to ensure quality and no lost time or material in manufacturing during the change.
3. Frequently interact with employee and operations management. Attend and actively participate in Product Development, Software, Assembly, Fabrication, Design, Programming and Quality meetings to provide basic information and occasional detailed procedural explanations or technical responses in order to improve engineering and manufacturing processes and products.
4. Complete engineering special projects including product improvement initiatives, product testing and assisting with standardizing engineering and manufacturing procedures, components, tooling, etc.
5. Stay current with engineering concepts, participate in training on new releases of software, manufacturing techniques and quality concepts; train other individuals and departments in the same.
6. Maintain Material Requirements Planning (MRP) data, product drawings and ensure bill of materials are entered completely, accurately and into the appropriate systems, such as, Customer Service requirements (drawings and BOM’s), customer instructions, Regulatory requirement verification before 1st production, ASTM and or CPSC testing, Product Knowledge Data, AIS, Share Point, etc.
