Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the Product Engineer will be responsible for receiving, evaluating, cleaning, and customizing all technical information / documentation from the customer related to their product, derived from a New Product Introduction (NPI) or a design change to establish all necessary processes to manufacture it by maintaining its design and performance integrity.
What a typical day looks like:
Handle product transfer and new product set up.Support production by assessing product engineering issues of diverse scope that arise on production line.Suggest improvements to process to obtain improved quality and production yield.Solve product related problems and perform failure evaluation related to product issues.Interact with customer and various departments on product related issuesWork with design team to resolve design related issues.Suggest modification to work instructions, material, or product changes to ensure excellent quality of products.Customer´s Bill of Material (BOM) evaluation and structure definition for productionFunctional Product Documentation reviewSafety Requirements and regulations compliance identificationEngineering Drawings Interpretation of parts and assemblies.Request customer for drawing corrections, additions, clarification, measurements methodsManage Engineering Changes ImplementationConduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM), tolerance evaluation, Design of Experiment (DOE), form-fit-function to define failure root/cause evaluation and reporting to customerProvide support to supply chain to integrate parts derived from the vertical integration or localization effortProvide product training to the manufacturing/process engineers for better understanding of the product.Request, handle and administrate golden samples, engineering samples of final product and/or piece partsInspection of customer product parts and assemblies through model files using Computer-aided Design (CAD) systemEvaluate and identify course of action of Product Change Notification (PCN) and Manufacturing Change Order (MCO)Ability to take additional responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer depending on the size and complexity of the customer productEstablish, operate, and maintain a standard method for technical information interchange with the customer to control and preserve information of NPI transferred projects.The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
Bachelor of Science Degree in related field.8 years of related experience.Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations.Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.Ability to analize problems, design experiments, conduct a design for manufacturing analysis, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Knowledge on metrology measurement methods, engineering drawing interpretations, Parts and assemblies analysis using CAD systemDemonstrates detailed expertise in very complex functional/technical area or broad breadth of knowledge in multiple areas; understands the strategic impact of the function across sites.#LI-EA1
