Product Development Engineer - Machine Design

Position Summary:
Mold Masters is seeking a skilled Product Development Engineer - Machine Design to join our growing E-Multi team, focused on auxiliary injection units and motion control products. As a Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the complete design execution of high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective machines and components. You will lead projects through the full product development lifecycle from conceptual brainstorming, detailed design and analysis, prototype build and testing, to product launch contributing to our reputation for world-class, sophisticated industrial machinery for a global market.

Work You’ll Do:

Execute complete machine and product designs with minimal oversight, applying sound engineering principles and standards.

Develop system-level design solutions in collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams.

Create concept layouts, 3D part models, and detailed drawings for reliable and cost-effective components and assemblies.

Prepare assembly drawings and generate accurate BOMs for SAP release.

Develop and execute validation plans, test reports, and prototype testing.

Assemble functional prototypes and oversee testing processes.

Actively participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) evaluations.

Evaluate existing patents, drawings, and technical documents; support patent applications.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives, boosting productivity and design efficiency.

Support sales by reviewing technical inquiries and proposing innovative, feasible solutions.

Team:
You will be an integral part of the high-performance E-Multi product development team based in Georgetown, Ontario. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams, contributing to the design and development of world-class, technologically advanced machinery for international markets. Your work directly impacts product innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

University Degree in Engineering, with a strong foundation in mechanical or mechatronic design.

5 to 8 years of related work experience, with P.Eng. eligibility highly desirable.

Highly skilled in 3D modeling and detailing techniques using SolidWorks 2023 or higher.

Advanced knowledge of ASME Y14.5M standards, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis.

Prior experience as a Machine Designer in an industrial machinery environment is required.

Strong design calculation skills and problem-solving capabilities.

Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, fabrication, and sheet metal.

Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis), preferably using ANSYS, is strongly preferred.

Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation.

Strong ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain focus on overall project objectives.

Experience with SAP is preferred.
